ok, I just released alpha 12 which introduced autosplitting feature - not sure if it always works (it's pretty difficult to test...)
But looks like we are able to split to any number of CDs of the size you specified on the bitrate tab...

All bugs in this thread please along with log files attached (coz otherwise I can't tell what's wrong).

P.S. alpha 12 is the last alpha with new fatures - lets test it properly and be ready to produce a public release. Thanks to everybody who's testing my alphas! :)

Hi,
I just completed a batch job with two 2CD-encodes, one with autosplit and one without. To paraphrase an American general: -the autosplit behaved as expected, outstanding! It cut the AVI at 700MB, just as the log file stated.

I got, however, two reflections on the autosplit:
- When I enable autosplit at the first project, the second project was also autosplit enabled, I had to disable autosplit on the second project manually. No big deal really, but all other GKnot options are project-specific without user intervention, so why shouldn't this one be as well.

- The other reflection is more of a design issue. Suppose I add files like subs to the project with the Files frame in the Bitrate tab. The autosplit completely fills the first CD with an AVI, without any room for the extra files. One solution could be to add an extra textbox next to the autosplit checkbox, where the user could enter the amount of reserved space on the first CD. There would of course be a second textbox for a 3CD-encode.

The two encodes were DivX502, VobSub subs and 2 AC3-streams each.

Well, do you select size for each project ?
Autosplit is size depenendent feature, that's why I've put it right close to the CD size area... (having this option three times for different codecs is not really good idea)
Anyway even if you select autosplit and the file is just one CD it will no be split (it's a bug in alpha 12, but 13 should solve this problem)

I can only do that generic for every CD, specifying it for every single CD can make thing quite difficult (now GK can split potentially to unlimited number of parts of equal size).

Strange that almost nobody noticed, but it's not producing last part, sorry :)
will finally work properly in alpha 14

and also can everybody pay attention to audio synch (I've got a bug report that audio was out of synch after splitting)
