I've been encoding movies with all the same settings that the guide says to, but I read another guide that was slightly different and was wondering which way was better. I've been encoding my movies the way the doom9 guide says, with TMPGEnc set to 23.976fps internally 29, and 3:2 pulldown when playback, but I read somewhere else to set it just to 29fps and interlaced. I was just wondering if ones going to make any difference over the other because they both seem to work fine. Will it make any difference with DVD player compatibility?

Thanks

no difference with dvd player compatibility, but by choosing the 23.976 internally, with the 3:2 flags on the stream to allow 29.97 playback, you can get better compression cause their is physically less frames than the 29.97 interlaced version.
