I was making a copy of RoseRed disk 1 (NTSC R1) and I came across a strange problem. After extracting the vobs and doing DVD2AVI, I used CCE to reduce filesize of the video and DVDdecrytor to extract audio. I found that the audio and video were somewhat out of sync and that the movie was not starting at the beginning. I tried using smartripper instead and this time the soundtrack gave an error when importing into DVDMaestro, but again video was not starting at the beginning.
I used DVD2ONE and that got everything right. I started playing each vob separately (there were 8) and discovered the order of the vobs was actually 5,6,7,8,1,2,3,4. I renamed 5,6,7 and 8 as 1,2,3,and 4 and 1,2,3,4 as 5,6,7,and 8. I then ran DVD2AVI on this renamed sets of vobs and this time everything worked out correctly.
Was there something else I should have done, it seems strange that the beginning of the movie should start at vob 5!
