View Full Version : DTS encoding...

I have been playing with muxing DTS-streams with DivX movies.
DVD2AVI 1.77 (latest version) supports extracting DTS-streams from vob-files.
However, Gordian-knot 0.27 won't load .d2v files made by DVD2AVI 1.77, only from version 1.76.
Now it's no real problem to first make a .d2v file with DVD2AVI version 1.76 and then use 1.77 to extract the DTS-stream, but it's sure is a major inconvenience.
I was wondering if it is possible to include DVD2AVI version 1.77 (and appropriate support for it) in the next release of Gordian Knot.
As I am writing this I am downloading 2 different DTS filters, one is in a codec-pack that can be downloaded from divx-digest, the other from a chinese site.
If anyone knows of a good DTS filter, please let me know.

Not unless somone hacks a new mpeg2dec(3).dll to read the new d2v files or someone hacks the new dvd2avi to make the old style projects.
As far as dts goes i think the best (only) filter is the intervideo one from windvd.

Ok, thanks for the info.
I suspected the intervideo filters to be the only DTS filters around, but how do I go about getting ie. WMP or Zoom Player to use these filters.
When I play a DTS DivX in WinDVD it plays DTS sound alright, but WMP and Zoom Player don't play any sound at all.

Wilbert,
Bedankt voor het antwoord.
However, your method describes a way for me stream DTS sound via the SPDIF connection on my Audigy to my surround receiver for decoding.
I was looking for a way to get the decoding done by software and have the DTS-filter/codec output the sound as 6 seperate channels on my Audigy.
This, namely, is exactly what WinDVD is doing.
When playing a DTS-Divx movie in WinDVD Platinum, I get 6 channel sound on the 3 connections on my Audigy. From there it goes to the 6 channel input on my receiver.
I prefer this method, because now all types of sound in DivX movies (stereo MP3, AC3, DTS) is always PCM-output via the Audigy to my surround receiver.
I thought if WinDVD can do it, it can't be impossible, but have been unable to find any codec/filter that can do it similar to AC3-filter.

Ask and ye shall recieve. Attached (as soon as someone approves it) is 1.77.4, which is 1.77.3 with the ability to save old style projects. This comes with two major caveats.
Clip/resize don't work.
There are 5 iDCTs in the newest DVD2AVI, in some Mpeg2dec.dll's they are not all supported. So if you see grey output video in GKnot, it means you either need to edit the .d2v file to use a different iDCT (like 2) or you need to find an Mpeg2dec.dll that supports all of the iDCTs (trbarry made one around here somewhere...)
You'll find the new option right under the old option in the file menu. I successfully generated old format project files, and opened them in GKnot (also verified that I didn't break demuxing). There is the possibility that I broke something else however, feel free to drop bug reports in here.
Source is available upon request.

Does the same applies for the mpeg2dec3.dll ? So if you are using mpeg2dec3.dll what are the chances to have a grey output?
