Wouldn't if be better for all the folks that actually take the time to search the forum, if the threads for unsearched inquiries and subsequent scoldings by the monitors were deleted. It's somewhat frustrating to search the forums only to find handfuls of relevant topics with replies from the monitors saying, "You didn't search."
My suggestion is to delete the message, save the bandwidth, and reply via email to the person telling them to search better, rather than posting a reply.

How many posts are CLEARLY of this type that there is no useful information?
Most will be at least of a little content.

ah, you can't do that, I guess.
"You didn't search."
that's told people regularly. Well, if a question is asked many times, it has to be in a FAQ, else it's often somewhere deep in the forum. a good help of the helpers would be the mentioning of exact keywords that lead to the desired topic...
but your suggestion is inacceptable, I'm afraid. But this is just me. besides, there is already some "pruning" function in this forum, deleting really outdated threads and freeing up bandwidth in the process.

it would be a manual procedure and require an effort that nobody is willing to make. Plus, it makes sense to have threads closed and with warning standing there so that other people will think twice before making the same mistake.
