View Full Version : DVD Maestro... 16:9 menus dislayed as 4:3

I'm using DVD Maestro to author a self-promoting DVD. I want it to have 16:9 menus, so I prepare the background and overlays at 1024x576 and resize to 720x576. I then import the assets in Maestro and define the menu to be 16:9. I then compile the project to hard-disk and use Power DVD to see the result.
Everything works fine, except all menus are displayed full-screen, as if they were 4:3. This of course means they're distorted and I have yet to find out what I'm doing wrong. I repeat that I specifically define 16:9 to the menu options in DVD Maestro, also Power DVD is set to maintain aspect ratio and displays commercial DVD widescreen menus correctly.
Thanks for any help.

ok, how many VTS' do you have in the DVD Project, and what aspect ratios are they?

Thanks for your interest, enf...
There is one VTS set in the project after compiling, VTS_01_0 to VTS_01_4. The project consists of three menus (all of which are "wide" as described above) and a movie clip which is anamorphic widescreen. The movie clip plays fine in the correct aspect ratio (with black bars up & down on the PC screen), but the menus fill in the entire 4:3 frame and are thus distorted vertically. I thought the menus would be displayed with black bars as well on a 4:3 screen, but they don't and I'm stuck...

Problem solved!
Apparently it seems that Maestro 2.9 build 2912 has a bug, which affects static widescreen menus, flagging them as 4:3.
After "upgrading to version 2.9 build 2915a the problem disappeared and 16:9 menus are now displayed in all their widescreen glory!

This isn't a bug. Go to the RIGHT WINDOW (where the menus and the movies are listed), at the top, right-click on the PROJECT, and you will see a place that says:
16:9 Menus on 4:3 displays:
Force to LETTERBOX
Force to PAN/SCAN
Obviously, your's was set up to FORCE TO PAN/SCAN on a 4:3 display. Check the other box for what you want.
