View Full Version : IC 7 question or problem

I have several DVD-9's ripped to my HD. I did not rip the full DVD just the video. I ran them through IFOedit, got VTS sectors, Region Free them, etc. I can watch the movie on my PC through WinDVD 4 or PowerDVD with no problem, DVD plays flawless.

However, I am trying to burn these to a DVD-R and using IC I have read several tutorials and I have it all set up correctly...(I think), custom resize, prefered destination is DVD. I also write the image file before burning so I can check it out with Virtual Daemon after I convert the pdi's to an ISO. I have burned a few on DVD-RW just to make sure.

Here's what is happening, the movie just gets cut short or starts late. With Bourne Identity the video in my image file cuts off with 8 minutes left, right after he calls the guy on the bridge. The original files (IFO, BUP and VOB's) are 5.4 GB, I have the same situation with other movies, but with Blood Work the movie will start about 8 minutes in, when Clint is walking up the stairs in the house where the movie starts.

I am very confused by the opposite ends I'm getting here, to me it seems that if the movies play in WinDVD 4 then the files are good to go, I have had no problems "backing up" DVD-5's, but for some reason I evidently don't have something in IC7 set right or it is not recognizing something. When the movies are encoding and IC7 scans the chapters they are all there but in the final image file parts are missing.

If anyone can help I would greatly appreciate it, I am not a newbie but I'm no great wizard either.

First thing that comes to mind, is that IFOs are somehow messed up.
First thing I would try, is make new IFOs. Then run the resulted bundle through DVD2ONE (just for fast results) and check it out. If it works, but you're still not satisfied with the results, then run them through IC7.
Of course it could also be a bad ripping, in which case it could be program failing due to "weird" settings (revert to default) or some hardware failing...
In anycase, you're in for a busy weekend.
Good luck :)

that will be the problem

are you keeping just the movie?

if you are, then just rip the VIDEO_TS.IFO/BUP/VOB along with the VTS_0x_0.IFO/BUP/VOB's of the movie title

use DVDToolbox and strip out the movie from there (mrbass's DVDToolbox guide) (http://www.mrbass.org/dvdtoolbox/))

then feed that to IC and it will work

doing a manual movie strip using your ripper & Ifoedit and then using IC is not a good choice as IC is very fussy

I was wondering if me using IFOedit was causing a problem that IC didn't like. Because I only have one title set and in all the tutorials I am seeing several "titles" streaming down the resize screen and I just have Title Set One.

I could run the program through DVD95copy and it came out full but trash as far as quality. I have DVD2ONE installed on here somewhere:rolleyes: Look like I'm going searching...but where to start..:sly:

Thanks for the help.

titles and titlesets are two completely different things as titles are contained within titlesets

in other words one or more PGC's (title's) are contained within that set of VTS_0x.VOB's (titleset's)

using Ifoedit and creating/modifying IFO's and not keeping a valid DVD structure sometimes creates problems for the software you use to reduce the movie

use DVDToolbox and strip a single PGC out of a VOB set and then use IC to process it and it will work just fine for a movie only (from your info I assume that's what you are trying to keep but I'm not fully sure)

DVD2One will give you just the same quality as DVD95Copy or worse depending on what you keep

using a software player like PowerDVD etc, does not always complain/freeze when playing a non compliant DVD

I think I might have found my problem, I still don't know what to do about it though.

The movie is 1 hour 58 minutes long. The time of the video when viewing it through Daemon tools is still 1:58 but like I said it stops just like usual and doesn't have the last 8 minutes. My thinking is that since the time is right the video just ends abruptly. I'm sure the entire thing got packed as it showed every chapter while encoding clear to the end credits. So my question would be this, do you suppose I could write that ISO to my HD so that I have the VIDEO_TS folder and my VOB files, delete my IFO's and BUP's run it back through IFOedit and burn it with decrypter like I do DVD-5's?

MisterX,

You are right about the titles, I am already in a single PGC. The structure is OK, because the first time I tried this I burned to DVD-RW and it played in my stand alone perfect right up until I got to that part where it stopped. Of course I don't have any menu's or anything but my chapter selection works and the quality looks just as good as the original as near as I can tell, obviously it's not as good as the original but it is a far cry from the Atari block look that I was getting with DVD95copy.

I would re-rip but I have a problem...um.....well you see....I don't actually "own" the DVD...um...I borrowed it, but from here on out I will be a little smarter when ripping DVD-9's. I should point out that I only ripped the rented DVD for "educational purposes" and that I do not intend on keeping the material obtained from said DVD, I also do not intend to distibute, edit, rebroadcast the original video without the express written consent of major league baseball.....

I do have DVD toolbox, so I'm going to play with it a little bit and see what I can figure out...probably nothing...so I'll be back in a few....

THIS JUST IN.....

Here's what I did....

I am where my questions left off. My ISO file is 3.84 MB (I know it's small but I was having problems and I was trying to figure it out) anyway....the ISO mounted with Daemon tools still stopped at exactly the same place it had before.

I have the IC7 image (pdi) files, used PDI to ISO to create a single ISO file. I then mounted the ISO using Daemon tools. Then I used Decrypter to rip that virtual drive. Got my smaller VOB files which incidently is down to 4 VOB files when originally I had 6. Anyway, I ripped them then created IFO's using IFO edit, got VTS Sectors, already a region free DVD. Saved and closed. Opened WinDVD 4 checked the movie...it was perfect clear to the ending credits, chapters worked fine, could jump ahead or back no problems. Used Imgtool 0.89 to create Image, burned out with decrypter and it is playing as we speak.

Thanks MisterX, apparently it was a IFO problem, once I recreated the IFO it worked perfect.

2COOL, if you read this thanks for that tip for speeding up IFOedit.

Ok, well I'm out, I have 8 more rips to crank out, all are already imaged so won't be long now...

I don't think it's wise that you mentioned you are copying rented DVD's and I guess I can't be of assistance in the future :(
