View Full Version : bbMPEG crashing in newest version

Hello,
I am using the newest version 1.1.3 build 2 and trying to use the new feature of encoding in MPEG2 but use MPEG1 (VCD) when muxing and authoring. Whenever I try this, RunbbMPEG.exe crashes.

Has anyone else had this problem? If so what can I do so that I can do the VCD trick?

Thanks for any information.

Try using MPEG1 instead of VCD in bbMPEG advanced settings.

I tried it both ways. I get the same error. I also tried uninstalling completely and then reinstalling.....same thing. Do you want me to post any log info? Thanks

Post your log file.

This is the log after trying "VCD" checked in the advance settings of the bbMPEG tab. I tried it with the "mpeg-1" checked first and had the same crash. If you want me to rerun with MPEG-1 checked and post that log I can do that too. Thanks for any help. RC

I am not sure what is different, but I reinstalled the program again, tried it, and it did not crash this time. However, it is creating .bin files that are too large to burn on a 80 min cd. It is creating 930MB images even though the settings are set for 80 min cd's in the "Bitrate" tab. The muxed mpg file it creates is 813MB. Any thoughts on what is happening there.

Just so you know, the dvd2svcd.ini I sent to you is the one from the install that was crashing. It's odd that on the third install, it seems to work except for the new problem stated.

Sounds like you are having Overflow errors in BBmpeg.
Use recover from muxing and cutting and this time watch as BBmpeg muxes and see if there are any errors. Overflow errors can and will increase the size of the mpg.

See if the sizes of the mpv and the mp2 added together are the same as all of the bbmpeg_muxed_file??.mpg. If it is then it isn't an overflow problem if the size is smaller then chances are it is.

@ roadsplat , have the same problem with the 930 mb images.

Mark,

Well they didn't add up. The size was smaller. I did as you said and remuxed and watched the screen. It did not show overflow errors but underflow. It read: "Video PTS underflow at pack xxxxx by xxxx ms" and "Video DTS underflow at pack xxxxx by xxxx ms"

I received well over 150 error messages like the ones stated above.

What can I do to solve this? What could be causing the errors?

My system is a P3 1.0G running Window XP with 512MB memory. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Overflow/Underflow. Tomato/Tomoto. Sorry my lame attempt at humour.

You will need to manually adjust the forced mux rate in bbmpeg. It will be a guessing game as what is the best setting. You are trying to make it the lowest possible number without an error.
I would start at around 2000. If you still get errors raise it. If you don't try lowering it 100 points each time until you do then raise it back a few points each time until the errors go away.

There is an actual formula, but I don't remember it. If you searched the forum you might find it. I don't think I ever saw it in the DVD2SVCD sections though.

Mark,

Tried doing what you suggested. Still getting the same results. :( Anything else I can try? Thanks for your help so far.

How high did you go?
If you still get the error at 2000 then try 2500. Keep going until you hit 5000 or so or the error goes away.

mark, i have the same error (see above). i did go till 14700 forced muxrate and then the last underflow-error was gone. but the result of the bin-file is the same as with underflow-errors : too big for the cd. greetings

Mark,

I guess i should have stated that I did go until I received no errors. It was at 15400 forced mux rate. The problem is that it is still making 930mb *.bin files for CD_1 and CD_2. Anything else to try?

Thanks

The only thing I can think of now is that it's because you are setting it to mux as mpeg-1 even though it's mpeg-2 video.

Try it as mpeg-2 or SVCD with a mux rate of 0.

Maybe what you are trying to do can't be done with the files you have.

I have never had to use any of these tricks to get my SVCD's to work so I am flying a little blind.

At least if this works you know where the error is.

Yeah doing just a regular SVCD or VCD works as it should. I was really hoping to be able to use this newest feature in this release. My dvd player does not support SVCD. I guess until there is a fix or workaround I will continue to use the VCD-Header trick plugin. That seems to work. Thanks for trying to help though.
