Hello All,

I recently upgraded to WinXP from Win98. In Win98 I always used to drag and drop a .ECL file onto CCE 2.50, but since upgrading to WinXP a get the following error message:
----------
AVIFileOpen("C:\VIDEO.ECL"): According to the registry, the type of file specified in AVIFileOpen does not have a handle to process it.
----------
Is this a CCE problem, an AVISynth problem or a WinXP problem?
Has anyone else encountered this?
I am sure it is only a minor problem as I can open the .ECL file in CCE by going File > Open.
Hopefully it is something simple (stupid) I have overlooked, but at the moment I am baffled ;(

thanks for any help

MattO

Is AviSynth installed? What happends when you try the avs file in Vdub?

See TroubleShooting (http://www.avisynth.org/index.php?page=Troubleshooting)

sh0dan,

Yes, AVISynth is installed, I double checked.

I can open the AVS file in VDub, TMPGenc and even CCE, but CCE 2.50 will not allow the ECL file referencing the AVS file to be dragged and dropped into its window ... which previously in Win98 it was able to do :(

I am going to re-check registry settings on an alternative Win98 box.

But in the mean time, please post any ideas or clues.

Would you believe it?
CCE doesn't like capitalization of extensions!

You can successfully drag and drop a file called 'VIDEO.ecl' onto CCE, but not one called 'VIDEO.ECL'.

My problem is now solved.

thanks

Verified on XP - I changed force.ecl (drag and drop ok) to force.ECL => got same error as MattO mentioned above when dragging into CCE 2.50
