Hello people, this is my first post, althrough I have been reading posts in this forum for a long time. I have created a guide about installing PixelView PlayTv Pro and all the freeware stuff you need for it to work, since original drivers and software are really a crap. It's not complete yet. If you have this PlayTV Pro, please take a look and feel free to send me comments.

few things;
you should clearly state on your guide that
it's for WDM systems (w2k & xp),and NOT
for VFW ones (all that was before)

here's why;

vfw drivers that shipped with my PV-BT878P
(pure capture card,no tuner...not same as yours,but...)
are pretty neat........

on my win2k partition i have btwincap,but i mostly use
win98 capture,as i regard vfw driver is better
than btwincap....
because i'm on FAT32 another issue occured;
i don't know of WDM capture program that can do nice segmentation
(to override 4BG filesize limit of FAT32)
virtVCR doesn't even attempt to make any segmentation....
it's made for NTFS....

so you should state that:
1-this setup is not good for windows that work only
on FAT32 filesystem....

2-there's an alternative for btwincap:see "atv2000" web
for more...(WDM driver by bt modified by ivan uskov)

3-you're damn right this is nice piece of hardware!(hehe)

Thanks for reminding me about this VFW vs WDM stuff, I really forgot that. Altrough I guess the guide might I work with other BT878/BT848, I made it initially for PixelView, since it's very common in my country and the WDW drivers really suck (don't know if there's VFW drivers, I guess not)
What would be a good FAT32 alternative for capture? Maybe ATV200? I'll Try it as soon as possible.
Have you done some testing comparing ivan uskov drivers vs BtWinCap?

I just updated the guide, check it out.

yes,bt8x8 is bt8x8 is bt8x8....
FAT32 ultimate programs would be virtualdubsync
and avi_io....they both know how to do segmentation...
(i use vdubVCR that's a variant of virtualdubsync)

didn't compare IUlab drivers vs. btwincap,as i'm more
in win98 for capturing than in w2k.....
the people which "life depends on it"(hehe) should do it
(the people on NTFS,probably you then...hehe )

for more on wdm vs. v search for my posts....
fairly often i speak of that...
(there's a capturing forum here too,you know...)

edit (after correction no.1...hehe)
heh, one more mistake;
>BtWinCap) is made for WDM capable OSs (Windows 98

win98 is not wdm capable ,but win98se should be
(better check btwincap page again....it clearly stattes win98se as the lowest with wdm support....)

Ok, corrected the Win98 stuff and added the DScaler setup guide. Radiator and Girder are the next guides to be written. Then maybe I'll do a capture guide for TV-Out. I know there are many capture guides out there, but I haven't seen any specific for TV-out so I guess that would be useful.

yes,good idea........

girder and remote are good ideas too,although i have given it up
because of lack of electronic components/i think i might get too
lazy with the remote for PC...hehe
(the first thing for me would be to move the mouse with remote...
and then my tv-tube would be burned in months....)
