I upgraded my firmware to latest official release, now i can not get instant copy or PrimoDVD to work.

i am reading and writing using the same drive, when its gets to about 97% of reading i get an error

Command:28 sense:03 asc:11 ascq:05

I have just tried Nero with the latest download and it seems to be ok, but i would like to know if anyone has any ideas as to the problem.

Many thanks guys

I have upgraded myself to the 1.30 firmware on my A05 but the firmware i Upgraded to was the Graduis one which is hacked to allow your drive to become RPC1 and write Ritek G03 Dye DVD-R's at 2X instead of 1X.Can report it works Perfect in Primo and am Burning Ghost ship with IC now as we speak.

Try this Firmware it may work.

i use cendyne a05 which is the pioneer re-branded
i too upgraded my firmware to the latest a bit ago and had no problems

frankly.. i don't think upgrading firmware is worth it right now

why? my media are 1x leda.. so it won't burn at 2x no matter what
maybe ritek's.. but i don't have ritek's..

so anyhows i think if a new firmware is released, i won't upgrade mine until my media supply runs out.. maybe then i'll get some 2x capable media :D

oh well maybe i should have left it alone.
I tried downgrading in windows to the previous firmware and it failed.
Can anyone help me or point me to thread that can explain how to downgrade to 1.21.

Thanks guys

Just follow the link posted by Digi. There you'll find +tons* of messages discussing DVD burner issues, and some of the sticky ones tells you how to downgrade using a special tool (and a copy of the firmware you want to downgrade to, of course :).
I also won an A05 which came with the 1.0 firmware... and still has it.
I do believe people should think twice before upgrading to a hacked 2x4all firmware. It is RPC1 (a nice feature) and let's you write at 2x in any media, but it can easily happen that the media by itself does not support 2x writting, so that you may end up with errors in playback, not at the burning stage. So you may end up with a nice DVD that randomly plays jerky or does not play at all at a given point...
I don't know, but I would like to hear more convincing reasons to upgrade.

I agree totally with you, you live and learn.
If it aint broke dont fix it.

Thanks for the links, i am still looking for one that actually gives you a tool for downgrading, i have tried the standard firmware's, and followed the threads instruction's but no joy.

Guess i will have to read on i am sure there is a thread in there somewhere that deals with this issue.
