View Full Version : Dummy subtitle streams

Hi,

I'm about to re-author the main movie of my DVD backup. I decided to only keep a few subtitle streams. I'm keeping the first two and then four at the end. I would like to leave out the ones in the middle. My question is: can I just select the stream number in Scenarist and import the ones I want or do I have to use dummy subtitle files to fill the gaps?

And if I need dummy subtitles, how do I go about making those? Do I just copy an sst file of another stream and rename that or do I have to make it from scratch?

Thanks
verb

Hi Verb,

first I think that each subtitle stream takes about 2 or 3 MB - so there is no need of getting them off. Second you canīt add subtitle streams one and for example six. Scenarist will report an error and import only first stream. I guess you can add some dummy subtitle stream - maybe empty .sst script with no links to your subtitles. Iīm at work now, so I canīt give it a try.

Iīm not ifo expert, but I guess you can change order of the streams in Ifoedit.

Thanks for the reply coona!

I created a dummy file by renaming an sst I had and stripping it down. Scenarist seemed to accept that so now I'm authoring the main movie.

One thing I noticed though was that I had an sst containing forced subtitles. I tried to follow Trilight's uberguide and setting parts of the original substream to Forced. However, I was missing the option where you place a checkmark for it. Hopefully, this won't ruin my project.
