Hi @ll,
how can I copy the movie 8mm with Instant Copy 7 or DVD2One? Both of them report a problem that Video_TS.ifo is missing. Thanks a lot for your replies!

Trust me, the DVD contains that file. Check your procedure for ripping the DVDs to HD. Make sure you used a folder, not the desktop, and that you pointed DVD2One or InstantCopy to it.

I thought the same. So, I compared the ripped version of the hdd and the DVD. Both of them don't have this file. The size of the Video_TS folder on the DVD and the ripped folder on the hdd is exactly the same.
Can anybody think of a workaround?

This is very unusual, in fact, out of spec. Is there a video_ts.bup? If so copy it as video_ts.ifo (right click on the HD file, copy, paste, then rename the new file from "copy of ...")

I'd also like to know what version of Windows you are running. The reason I ask is the maker of the DVD may be playing tricks with the ISO 9660 directory (players use the micro-UDF directory).

Are you looking at the region 1 NTSC version of 8mm. UPC# 4339602854?

Its a two sided disk, w/full screen on one side and wide on the other?

If so, I've just loaded my copy and it has a video_ts.ifo file on both sides that is 18 kb in length.

Maybe I should rename all file so that vts_01 will be deleted in the beginning of the file names. What do you think about this?

vts_01VIDEO_TS.IFO

how have you got those names?

you ain't ripping in the right mode

go here and use DVDDecrypter and rip in FILE MODE

I used Smart Ripper in the uptodate version. It ripped everything correct. As I told before, I compared the DVD to the rip. Everything's the same.

the filenames are wrong

that's why it can't find the VIDEO_TS.IFO

have u not got DVDDecrypter?

http://www.deano.dsl.pipex.com/backup/files/DVDDecrypter3140.zip

if not then use Files mode with smartripper

click FILES button then select ALL, then click SETTINGS and check the following

smartripper settings for file mode (http://www.deano.dsl.pipex.com/backup/Pics/recorder/smartfile1.png)

then rip it

After renaming the files, it worked. BTW: The filenames are the same on the Original DVD, so this problem does not refer to Smart Ripper. Thanks for help!
