Sure I see...but hasn't Nic posted info about his new build in this (http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?s=&threadid=49538&perpage=20&pagenumber=3) very thread? And hasn't everybody comment these builds in this (http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?s=&threadid=49538&perpage=20&pagenumber=3) very thread? ;)

Whatever,.. since Chroma Optimizer, decoding and all the other nifty features seem to work just fine, I really love this build. :)

THX Nic :D

dito

have you noticed any difference with activated chroma optimizer?

Yeah, it's the bomb!!
It really helps. The best part where you can see it is if you encode a movie with a logo of New Line at the beginning,.. you know the black one with the blue light.
Without chroma optimizer you get visible "color steps", with chroma optimizer they are next to gone. :)

So for me it's a "must use" now :D
(hope this doesn't break mp4compatibility somehow)

Ps.: Btw. since when is quality 100% = quantizer 1, I like it but I first was surprised from the filesize :)

Hmm..isn't there some serious problems with the codec if you can't get the decent results without this CO? Why isn't it on by default then..?

"Hmm..isn't there some serious problems with the codec if you can't get the decent results without this CO?"
No, your are kind of getting me wrong I get wonderful results with xvid without Chroma optimizer, just scenes with fog and/or slow light changes etc. are not so beautiful. Which as far as I know is a know weakness of Xvid (and DivX).

"Why isn't it on by default then..?"
At least for me it's the first build where CO didn't result in a crash if turned on. So it's kind of an alpha alpha feature ;)

Would like to say thank you Nic! Your build is really working for me man.... :D I dont know how much better it can get than this? But thank you and keep up the good work. And a big shout out to all the Dev's.... uManiac and Koepi big thanks as well. Great work guys and Nic I just got this build and my first little tests where so good, one more thing... with the iuVCR and the Cyberlink deinterlace filter I'm getting very nice videocaptures @ 512x384 with the filesize avg about 5.8mb per 1min give or take.... have seen low 2.9mb and never over 8mb, these captures sure do look beautiful on my TV and the filesize vs quality just has to be seen to be believed!

/me is very happy

PS: You guys have made leaps and bounds with the 1-pass quantizer encoding! Amazing results that I never thought I would see with a 1pass encode  again Thank You!!!!
I'm happy your build is working so well for me and I'm loving this!

weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!!!!

I did a quick comparison between koepi's and nic's latest builds (22/3 and 30/3 resp). I noticed that nics seems to show some noise on light coloured flat surfaces. I loaded the samples into vdubmod and nics seems to show a lot more pixellation (especially at x4 mag). I can attach a picture showing source vs koepi vs nic so you can see what I mean (if I can remember how to attach files????....)

The settings for the samples was the same qpel, me, bframes (3/150/100).

Cheers

No. I haven't used lumimasking for months as I heard that it only adds value if you base your tests on 1cd.

after installing this build, opening avs files with DirectShow for instance with DVX or Zoom Player crash after opening a script the second time, even when the program build it's own graph

Just loaded script loading an avi capture 4 times with zoom player and seeks and plays fine each time and it never crashed.

Are you loading an avi or mpeg?

Hi all,

Sorry but I didn't know where to post this one. I found this topic to be the last one about Nic's XviD builds, so I'll post here. :)

I have a few questions to ask Nic :

1. Are you going to add B-frame threshold in your next build ?
Sorry but I don't know if this one is a feature added by Koepi for his builds or an "official" feature. And judging by the results, it can be useful when it deals with increasing the compressibility (I don't know if this word is right here) of a "not so much compressible" source...

2. Optional : When do you think you're going to release your next build ? (I know this question is useless, but I had to post it, and you can see it's optional too ;) )

Thanks for your work ! :)
