Hi ppl. I have WD 40gb (7200),4-year old hard driver 2mb cache,udma66. I experienced a lack of space and so i bought a 80gb maxtor udma133 (5400) rpm. and the new hard is EXTREMELY slow.I capture from tvcard in real time. Ad with old WD i can get even 20-23mb/s. The new one can't stand even 2.5mb/s - i have no explanation to this! For example copying 700 mb from and to this driver takes about 12-15 minutes! I know that it's speed is lower (5400vs7200) but not 10 times!? I have UDMA enables, win2k, all drives are ntfs, This 80gb driver is a Secondary maseter, and he is alone(no sec.slave)
Do you think that this specific drive is bad? Thanks for any help.

RPM >>>> any other speed measurements

7k rpm is about the minimum acceptable spindle speed for capture from my experiences, I'd try to swap it for a 7200 RPM drive if you have the ability to return it.
