I have to realise a project using SMIL. I haven't found on real site license for the product mentioned above. Can I use it to create videos and audios and use them into a product that will be redistribuited over the net and/or removable media? And the the removeble media will be sent and not freely distribuited?
And for mp4, there isn't any producer free for commercial, true? Which are my free alternatives (theora)?
Thanks.

hi,
i think karl will ask u with a better accurency.but i will try to ask ur question.
to create smil presentation=> use Grins 30 days trial(http://www.oratrix.com).
tha realproducer basic can encode audio, video without limitation (it seems to me u can't resize using realproducer but simply made a avisynth project and resize in your script.
but if u want to made a live redistribution u need realserver (free version but limited to 500 connections it seems to me.)
for mp4 u need divx5 adaware or xvid (these 2 codecs are free) and u need mp4creator (free) for audio in .aac use besweet (free) and a special psytel version (on raresoft).
theora beta is for the moment only under linux.
correct me if i have made a mistake.

Bye.

The only charge to distribute RealMedia files, AFAIK and IANAL, is the purchase price of Helix Univeral Server. If you don't purchase the server software, you can't stream the files, but you won't have any distribution costs.

Ok thanks, that's what I needed to know.
As for mp4, Divx licence is for personal and XVID is ,if I remember well for educational purpose only.
Anyway RealProducer should be the best choice (I'm not sure if I need streaming).
Thanks
