View Full Version : Stream Jerky after Decimate

Using decomb / decimate to deinterlace and revert to 24fps. I've done three encodings: native 30fps, no deinterlace; telicide w/ decimate cycle 5 and field deinterlace w/ decimate cycle 5 (not sure if stream is interlaced or telicined, so tried both). Both streams that I used decimate on are slightly jerky (like it skips a frame or two). Anyone have any ideas what I could be doing to avoid this?

Are you sure the source material is 3:2 pulldown material, and hence requires IVTC? If you IVTC non-3:2 material, obviously, it will become jerky.

Yip. Figured that out. I wasn't understanding the difference between interlaced and telicined (never worked with pure interlace before). Took decimate out of the script, left it at 30fps, ran field deinterlace and it looks pretty good.
