I'm trying to recreate an ifo in scenarist.

PGC_1 (program chain): [Title(TTN): 1] [00:15:47.02 / 30 fps] (Programs:2) (Cells: 4) (uses VOB-IDs: 1,3)
[Ch 01] [Pg 01] [Cell 01] [V/C Id: 1/1] : time: 00:07:07.29 / 30 fps
[Cell 02] [V/C Id: 1/2] : time: 00:06:56.14 / 30 fps
[Cell 03] [V/C Id: 1/3] : time: 00:01:42.04 / 30 fps
[Ch 02] [Pg 02] [Cell 04] [V/C Id: 3/1] Layer Br.: time: 00:00:00.15 / 30 fps

PGC_2 (program chain): [Title(TTN): 2] [00:07:19.14 / 30 fps] (Programs:2) (Cells:2) (uses VOB-IDs: 2,4)
[Ch 01] [Pg 01] [Cell 01] [V/C Id: 2/1] : time: 00:07:18.29 / 30 fps
[Ch 02] [Pg 02] [Cell 02] [V/C Id: 4/1] Layer Br.: time: 00:00:00.15 / 30 fps

My question is how do you create the 3 cells in PGC 1 Ch 1 as this VTS need to be ripped by PGC? The 4th cell in PGC 1 Ch 2 I think is supposed to be created with a dummy video track like on trilights site. Is that correct?

Assuming u have set up the cells in the video track all u have to do is point them to the cell level of the pgc.

ie. take the 1st scene (cell) of the track and throw it in the scenario editor in a vts. this will create a pgc with one cell. Double click to expand it.

Anything u throw at the vts folder ikon will become a pgc
if u throw it at the pgc level (the 1st one down) will become chapter (ch) and finally

if u throw it in the 2nd row (cell level) will become cell.

I think trilight's guide in the similarities between scenarist and ifoedit has a photo of exactly this explanation.

First thanks for the reply.

I've read the info on trilights site and he spells out in the Manual Chapters? page.
Drop on a Title folder, the asset becomes a PGC.
Drop on a PGC icon, the asset becomes a Chapter.
Drop on a Chapter icon, the asset becomes a Cell.

I guess my confusion comes from:
1)Does this VTS need to be ripped by VOBId or PGC?

2)If by PGC then how do u create the 3 cells in the first PGC as the track u create has one video and 2 audio assets? How do u create a cell from that. You wouldn't drag the same track onto the PGC icon 3x to create 3 cells for that PGC?

3)Some VTSs have PGCs that have a large chapter followed by a small 15 frame chapter. I believe they can be done by PGC and add a dummy video track to the PGC icon. Like in PGC 2 of my ifo in the first post. Am I correct?

I hope I'm explaining myself ok.

PGC_1 (program chain): [Title(TTN): 1] [00:15:47.02 / 30 fps] (Programs:2) (Cells: 4) (uses VOB-IDs: 1,3)
[Ch 01] [Pg 01] [Cell 01] [V/C Id: 1/1] : time: 00:07:07.29 / 30 fps
......................[Cell 02] [V/C Id: 1/2] : time: 00:06:56.14 / 30 fps
......................[Cell 03] [V/C Id: 1/3] : time: 00:01:42.04 / 30 fps
[Ch 02] [Pg 02] [Cell 04] [V/C Id: 3/1] Layer Br.: time: 00:00:00.15 / 30 fps

PGC_2 (program chain): [Title(TTN): 2] [00:07:19.14 / 30 fps] (Programs:2) (Cells:2) (uses VOB-IDs: 2,4)
[Ch 01] [Pg 01] [Cell 01] [V/C Id: 2/1] : time: 00:07:18.29 / 30 fps
[Ch 02] [Pg 02] [Cell 02] [V/C Id: 4/1] Layer Br.: time: 00:00:00.15 / 30 fps

Well, lets decypher the quote above.

The Scenarist project has 4 tracks as u can see by the vob-ids, created according to their id.

Track 1 (vobid 1) has 3 scenes defined in it as u can clearly see (vobid 1, cells 1,2,3).
Scene 1. Vob/Cell 1/1. Duration 0:07:07.29
Scene 2. Vob/Cell 1/2. Duration 0:06:54.14
Scene 3. Vob/Cell 1/3. Duration 0:01:42.04

Track 2 (vobid 2) doesn't have any scenes defined, except ofcourse form the default 1st one.

Track 3 (vobid 3) is a still frame that is displayed for 15 frames.
Track 4 (vobid 4) is again a still frame that is displayed for 15 frames.

Now u have to Scenario these things.

I am assuming that u r familiar with the VTS-PGC-Chapter and Cell levels of an asset.

Create a 2nd vts next to the 1st one in the scenario editor.

Drag in to the first vts the 1st scene of track 1
Expand the pgc if it isn't already expanded.
Drag the 2nd and 3d scene of trac 1 ON THE chapter level of the scene-1

Now drag the track 3 on the pgc level of the the vts-1

For the 2nd pgc drag track 2 in the 2nd vts
drag the 4th track in the pgc level of the the vts-2

The attached bmp, when approved shows u how the final layout looks like.

Well just noticed that I can't attach images in this forum.

I am assuming that u r familiar with the VTS-PGC-Chapter and Cell levels of an asset. Do u have a link to a guide for the above?

I guess that's the real problem. Do I have to create multiple scenes in the track editor do later import into the correct location in the scenario editor? If so so I enter the time of the cell (in the ifo file)into the track editor and hit the icon to add a new scene for each of the first 3 cells in the 1st PGC?

Create a 2nd vts next to the 1st one in the scenario editor.
do you mean a 2nd PGC?

Thanks for sticking with me as I'm almost ready to turn the corner on this.

Yes that is correct. Each scene u create can be a pgc, a chapter or just a cell. It depends where exactly u place it.

On the new vst, I meant a new pgc. That is correct too.

I am sure u can do it.
