hi i got some problems getting a captured dvb stream to dvd,
maybe i did something wrong with my steps which somebody could clearify for me :-)

first i got multiple transport streams from my dvb box

i take the first file fore example
feed it through pvastrumento to get a valid program stream.

then i demux this stream with tmpeg(mpeg tools) or bbmpeg

now i use ifoedit to mux my demuxed audio and video file to dvd structure

and finally burn with nero (udf)

the first problem is that the resulting dvd works on my 2 standalone dvd players and on the computer but you cannot fast forward or do timecode jumping.

and the second problem is how do i get multiple files into ifoedit.
(that means i capture a long movie and it gets splitted into 4 1gb files, how is it possible to mux them all with ifoedit, if it is possible at all, or does it only work with one big file assuming there are no filesystem restrictions.)

cheers

Hi,

In which format are you capturing? PVA or MPEG?

Oh, and remember that wiljo (author of PVAStrumento) has said numerous times that PVAStrumento doesn't generate correct MPEG Program Streams yet.

You should use PVAStrumento strictly for demuxing.

If you need to mux streams, then bbMpeg is much better.

Ciao.

that seems a bit useless for me. you can just use pvastrumento to demux the streams, whats the use of creating a program stream before ?
but well, i never tried to get such streams without reencoding to dvd...

well i donīt know if this step is really necessary, as i donīt know the differences between a programm and a transport stream - is it just the muxing or is it more (audio delay and so on)?
i think i tried without the pvastrumento/tmpeg step but it was way out of synch.

the first problem with the fast-forward not working was because of a dvd+rw i tried it with a dvd+r now and it works like a charm now.

but there is still the second problem. how do i get multiple files into ifoedit for muxing. or does the file have to be one large (4gb file).

maybe i should try hd2vtompeg instead, sometime.

any help appreciated :-)

ifoedit supports only 1 input file as far as i know.
if you capture multiple files for one movie i would use pvastrumento to join them together. just select all files and let pvastrumento demux them to one m2v and mpa file. you can then use these files with ifoedit.
pvastrumento also fixes the audio delay during demuxing.

the problem would be if you want more than 1 movie on a dvd and these maybe have different resolutions. dont know if that works.
in that case i would recommend you a real dvd authoring program that let you create more than 1 title set like dvdmaestro. its also very easy to use.
