I'm wondering why quality based encoding is incompatible to the Divx certified profiles.
Since the profiles are available, I'm trying to encode all my movies to a certified setting, hoping to have a capable standalone in the future and being able to play the movies.
However, sometimes I'd really like to use QB encoding for stuff like video clips that don't need to be of a certain size. Also I want to encode the end credits of DVD movies using QB.
Now I'm wondering: if I have a movie encoded using a certified home theater profile, but the end credits are encoded at qunt 28, will this be a big problem for standalones? Or is there a chance standalones will also play QB encoded clips if they don't exceed a certain maximum data rate and if the resolution is ok?
