I encoded a episode of Chobits last night, and for my "Desired size (KBytes)" on the "Second Pass - Second Pass Int." I chose "206531" KB, but when I encoded the episode the total size was only 145 MB! Subtract the 21 MB of audio, and the video was only 124 MB when I wanted it to be close to 200 MB. What's my problem :sly:?

post your settings!

It is possible that the video is very compressable and with a quantizer of 2 (lowest compression), it cannot reach the desired file size. Just open the 1st pass stats file with XviD Stats Viewer and see the Total Video Size. If it is about 124 MB, then there is no problem with the encoding. But if its larger than that, then you've done something wrong (or the build you have is buggy). In that case post you settings and the build version, to find out what's the problem.

PS. A search on "oversized video" before posting would not harm anyone, would it?

Here's some screenshots of my settings in XviD

A search on oversized video wouldn't harm or help anyone, because my video is too small :D.

try

quant type: mpeg (in both passes)
min. i-frame interval: 1
Min – Max I-frame quantizer: 2 – 4
Min – Max P-frame quantizer: 2 – 8
I-frame boost: 0
I-frame bitrate reduction: 20
bitrate payback delay: 250
check payback with bias
uncheck use alt. curve syst.

thanks to iago for this settings!

A search on oversized video wouldn't harm or help anyone, because my video is too small I think he meant "undersized video".

Chobits is known to be a very compressable series. Don't try to go higher than 175MB per ep.
