View Full Version : Removing titles with IC and final product

I have backed up a copy of Saving Private Ryan. I removed title 3 in the Customization screen so I could give more to the movie. I created an ISO from my final product using PDITool. I mounted with Daemon tools and it plays fine on PC until I select the menu item for the title I removed from the IC project. Question is, is there a way to correct this? Is there a way to disable that selection from the menu so there will not be an error when it is selected? Thanks.

OK. Did a little more reading and tried this IFOedit method.
Saving Private Ryan and trying to get rid of one of the Extras but also need a dead menu link that will not crash PC or Standalone.

- pulled up VTS_02_0.IFO in IFOedit
- Went to VOB EXTRAS and selected Strip VOB IDs
- Selected defaults then Strip It
- Because the Title set said that this extra was in VOBs 3/4 I unchecked those and Stripped
- IFOedit recreated my VOB set then I copied the new files to the folder where the original DVD files were and overwrote the old ones
- I did a test of a software player. If I selected that menu item the player would stop and close the movie (going the IC route it would crash my computer). I thought the dead link would just stay at that menu screen.

I believe I am on the right path, just need some guidance, thanks.

do this before you use IC and then it will work perfectly

the way you did it just now you should have used IFOupdate after overwriting the VOBS

refer to my guide on how to replace VOBS correctly

its in this guide near the bottom

I appologize.
After looking through what you hasd mentioned.
I am still having minor issue understanding.
All of these steps are to prep for an InstantCopy.

1. Ripped to harddrive
2. Using IFOedit I opened VTS_02_0.IFO then used VOB Extras button to strip out Title # 3 an extra that was located in VOB 3/4.
3. IFOedit created new set of files that I copied over my original files
4. WINDVD plays new files great but dumps out when menu item is selected for that extra. Not sure if this is supposed to happen.

I took a look at that IFOUpdate util you had mentioned and not sure where or how to apply it. The guide you referred me to was talking about adding an empty VOB to my structure (confused :| ) :)

what is it you are trying to remove?

There is an extra (making of the movie) which takes up alot of space. I checked the updated VOB in windvd and it appears that the extra has been removed using the ifoedit method. It's just the menu portion that has me confused. I select the extra from the menu and windvd dumps. I assume it dumps because it can't find the title that is supposed to be there.

so are trying to remove all the VOB ID's or just a couple within the IFO?

A couple within the IFO.
There are 4 (according to IFO edit when I am stripping). I am removed #'s 3 and 4

then all you do is copy the resulting stripped files back over the originals and it should work

what is contained in VOB ID's 1 & 2 and what exactly is contained in VOB ID's 3&4

how long are they also?

I believe VOB ids 1&2 are the first extra which is 5 minutes. 3&4 are the making of the movie and think it was about 30 minutes. (just so you know this is my first time using IFOedit)

are you sure about VOB ID 4?

check how long it is

if its under a second you must leave it

this example HERE (http://www.deano.dsl.pipex.com/GUIDE/Pics/ifo1.png) has a length of 0.12 secs

and it is vitally important you leave this VOB ID intact for the menu structure to stay valid
