I want to buy a radeon 9000 (pro) or similar with tv-in and tv-out.
All cards I have seen, have only one s-video conector among vga and dvi.
I have a sat reciever and want to watch tv via pc. Therefor I need a s-video-in.
Does it mean, you can use the s-video as in and output ?
Can you switch the s-video via software from in to out ?
Does the s-video quality of the cards differ ?
Thanx for the enlightenment. :)

from memory the only 9xxx based card to have video capture is the AIW, which also has the tuner.
the single Y/C (mini-DIN actually) connector on all the 9xxx boards is Y/C & Comps output only (comps via an adapter in the box).
the AIW can capture from the tuner, Y/C or Comps sources.

Thanx.
But what is the meaning of vivo then ? I thought Video in / Video out ?
When I understand your post correctly, I can not capture/watch a tv signal from external reciever via the s-video connector of the ATI 9xxx-boards?
Are there any other cards, which alow that?

the Y/C connector (s-video) on the ati 9xxx boards (excluding the AIW) is for TV-Out only.
the AIW has 2 mini-din connectors (not svideo), which hook up to a break out box and a cable splitter to give you video in and out in addition to the tuner.
with the original Radeon, there was a VIVO model (i have one) and it has on the back plate: DB15, Y/C and 2x Comps (RCA), which is monitor, Y/C TV-Out, Comps TV-Out and Comps Video In.
currently there is no radeon 9xxx that has VIVO (excluding the AIW), and it looks like there wont be either.

Yes there is one, it's new and is the same chip as the 8500, 9000 except it's AGP8x instead of 4x for the 9000.
btw it has no tuner.

Nanananana,
I bought a Radeon 9000 pro ViVo, yes, Video in and out.
HIS EXCALIBUR RADEON 9000 pro VIVO.
There is multi-connector, one end to the Card, on the other 2 s-video-connector (in and out) and 2 composite connectors (in and out).
In order to use the capture ability, I installed the included WDM drivers.
I managed to connect a dvd player to my PC with Pinnacle Studio.
But it would be nice, if I could capture with Virtual Dub.
But VD tells me , there is no cupture driver available.
Any ideas? Is threre way to capture in VD with the WDM drivers of the Radeon card?

Maybe you could try this :

I never used it myself, but am interested in the result as i want to buy a radeon.

Thanks.
The docs about the WDM wrapper solve the problem.
