View Full Version : Multiple PGC on one dis with DVD2one

I'm trying to backup a DVD that has eight episodes of a half hour TV show. Each episode is stored in a separate PGC. When I get to the screen in DVD2one that asks me to "select the title you want to process," it shows each episode as a separate title, and only lets me select one at a time. Is there anyway to use DVD2one to create a backup for this kind of disc?

First create new ifo files with ifoedit in a seperate directory, then run dvd2one. After that's finished update the original ifo file with ifoupdate, with the authored file being the one created by dvd2one.

@DnGermany
Your method is incomplete. You failed to mention about putting all your episode VOBs in a separate directory and renaming them as one titleset.
@johnmeyer
There are guides here in these forums on doing multi-PGCs with or without menus. Do a search.

excuse me, but I don't find it :( :(
I would backup a multi PGC only with menu+video(only one)+audio(only one), but i 'dn't find this guide.
can you link it here?
Thank you very much

If your episodes are in one Title Set, you can check out this link.

If your episodes are in separate Title Sets, then check this link to my guide.

Thanks for all the advice. I tried the instructions given at:
Non-Strand DVD (http://www.dvd2dvdr.com/Non-Strand_DVD.htm)
and ended up with files that played the chapters in seemingly random order. The instructions on this site are similar to the brief instructions provided above by DnGermany, as modified by 2Cool.
I guess I'll just buy the Pinnacle Instant Copy program since it seems like it has the ability to handle this type of disk.

so how do you do a multiple PGC that is contained within one VTS set using DVD2One?
and who cares how long the processing takes, it's the time I sit at PC messing around that bothers me
If it took 8 hours to transcode I wouldn't care as long as it spat out a DVD of around 4.37GB
the best I have seen so far at doing this (ignoring ripping/burning as all 3 are the same unless you burn with IC) is DVD95Copy that only takes less than a minute of PC work compared to the rest
if DVD95Copy keeps ironing out the bugs as quick as they have been, it will be the best by far and looking at the features of the latest version it isn't far short of being the perfect product as movie only is being developed right this minute. Another good feature to implement would be to adjust the time it takes resulting in even better quality as some people have more than 15mins to process a DVD and don't require to do 20 DVD's backups in a day
this will be the end of DVD2One for most people looking to buy a new product unless it can do the same thing, which I very much doubt will in the very near future judging on the speed of updates :(

MisterX, you are right on the mark. For me, the main criteria is how much of my life is spent doing this stuff. I'd obviously like the best possible quality, and would like the computer to not have to spend days cranking, but ultimately, my time (my life) should not be spent in front of a PC just to make a backup of a DVD.

There's a program called MenuEdit that delete menu buttons. Give a try and if you're successfull, you can safely delete your "extras" files. Look for the download link in this thread.

I couldn't get anything to work using the various guides that use only DVDDecrypter, IFOEdit, and DVD2One. However, I was finally able to get everything to work perfectly by taking the main (large) VOB files created by DVDDecrypter and joining them using VOBEdit (see Joining different VOBs (http://ifoedit.wh.fr0zen.com/joinclip.html#joindbl)).
Once joined, I created new IFOs using IFOEdit, and then ran DVD2One. This also works for taking a few chapters from multiple DVDs and creating a new, unique DVD. This is quite useful for making a music video highlight compilation, for instance.

Here's something for you to ponder on.
VTS_01_1.VOB 4:3 video , 6Ch English audio
VTS_01_2.VOB 4:3 video , 2Ch English audio
VTS_01_3.VOB 16:9 video, 6Ch English audio
VTS_01_4.VOB 16:9 video, 2Ch English audio
What do you think the video/audio attributes are going to be in your new IFO as one PGC when you combine chapters from different DVDs?

@ZIZZI
If you disabled the extras button in your menu, it's safe to delete the VOBs. Usually, I keep the "extras" IFO, BUP, and 0.VOB file in case I might encounter any navigation errors. But, always test your DVD. I do my tests in IFOedit and PowerDVD. If you feel worried on deleting, then drag your unwanted extras VOBs to a separate directory.

KEEP these
VTS_*_0.IFO
VTS_*_0.BUP
VTS_*_0.VOB
DELETE these or move them to another directory
VTS_*_1.VOB
VTS_*_2.VOB
and press your "GET VTS Sectors" button before you play and burn.

You make a really good point. Do you have any suggestions on how to combine chapters from different DVDs that have different aspect ratios and audio? I suppose I could demux and remux. Any other ideas?

@johnmeyer
You can either author them as separate Title Sets or make them as separate PGCs in one Title Set. Here's an old thread you can read about someone trying to do a music video compilation DVD.
Can I create more than 1 Titleset in IFOEDIT? (http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?threadid=42989)

Hey 2Cool how's it going? Well i was referring to multi PGCs in one title set. I just looked at the post again and realized that i gave the wrong info, that's what happens while reading half asleep. By the way i got some cool tips from your cheat sheets thanks. Well the main thing is helping others right, glad it finally worked for you Johnmeyer.
