Just a quick question.
What is the max file size limit for a dvd-r? I am reading alot about a limit of 4.3 gig using IC but I thought that a dvd-r could hold 4.7 gig. I have encoded a couple of movies using IC and got one at 4.3 and I did another and got 4.5 (thought that was pretty good :) until reading some threads about file size). So I am not to sure. Thanks in advance.

:D

4.37Gb for a blank which is 4700000000 bytes or 4489MB or there abouts

(I forget exactly how many zero's :))

the industry quotes 4.7Gb but thats gigabytes whereas we see gigabits or somits like that

rough figures
1Gb = 1024MB = 1073741824 bytes

GBx1024=MB
GBx1024x1024=KB
GBx1024x1024x1024=bytes

Thanks for the info :) .

OK had to come back to this one. I have noticed that all DVD-R releases by certain unnamed groups are all 4.7 gig (95 x 50MB files).
So are all these group releases too big for a dvd-r?
