I recieve the Linux Mandrake Community Newletter, the last of whic contained an article concerning the official release dates for Mandrake 9.1Full.
I quote from the Mandrake Linux Community Newsletter-Issue#76
"Top Story
----------------------------------------
Mandrake Linux 9.1 'RC2' is available.
The second release candidate of the upcoming Mandrake Linux 9.1 was
released on Tuesday, March 4th. Lead developer 'Warly' reports that 9.1
Final should be completed by the 14th of March, and the official
announcement should be made between the 15th and the 20th."
----------------------------------------
So hopefully,by the time you read this,9.1Full should have been formally announced and available to the user.

The files I am currently downloading are:
-MandrakeLinux-9.1rc2-CD1.i586.iso
-MandrakeLinux-9.1rc2-CD2.i586.iso
-MandrakeLinux-9.1rc2-CD3.i586.iso
are these the final or the beta for mandrake 9.1? The link that I clicked on to get to the linux download page said Mandrake 9.1 beta, so I assumed I was downloading the beta.
And another question, would these 3 files be all I need to download? There are more files there, but I'm not sure if I need it or not.[since they had different dates]
Cheers.

-MandrakeLinux-9.1rc2-CD1.i586.iso
-MandrakeLinux-9.1rc2-CD2.i586.iso
-MandrakeLinux-9.1rc2-CD3.i586.iso
are these the final or the beta for mandrake 9.1?
The 'rc2' part of the filename means the files you are currently d/l'ing are Mandrake 9.1 Release Candidate-2.
9.1Final is due for official release anytime this week,here is a quote from the Mandrake Newsletter Issue#76;

How much did it cost you to order the boxed set from mandrakestore? [in terms of US or Australian dollars]
I went over my download limit for the month and now I'm capped at 28.8 so it is taking forever to download and resumed close to 1800 times so far, I just hope it still works.
Would it be possible for me to update from rc2 to 9.1 full using the online update?
Cheers

Well although Mandrake Store (http://www.mandrakestore.com) were supplying 9.0 PowerPack Edition for around $65(US)/$109(Aus)(I think),I am lucky enough to have a friend with a copy  so as to your question.....well....erm....
Actually TBH I was very lucky, she didn't realise I wasn't using v9.0 and as she had installed v9.1rc2,like yours, the 9.0 PowerPack was more or less given to me.
It consists of ;7 CDz ,a Quick Install Guide and a 200page manual. On the discs, apart from the installation files there are over 2Gb of RPMz,not including updates for s/ware packages,a choice of kernels, the newest one on the discs being v2.4.20 as mentioned below. There is also StarOffice 6.0 but I don't use it or even have it installed.
I'm not sure about the d/l version of 9.0 or 9.1 but the 9.0 P/Pack Ed contains messanging programs (compatible with AOL®, ICQ®, Yahoo® and MSN Messenger®),the ICQ one is LICQ already mentioned in this thread but I nearly gave birth to kittens when I saw support for MSN!!
I am 100% positive that LICQ is included in the standard d/l version of 9.0 and depending on which install you do will install LICQ automatically,it's just a case of choosing the appropriate Internet Tools during installation process.
The tech Specs for 9.0 PowerPack are; Kernel 2.4.19(2.4.20 is on a disc)
XFree 4.2.1
KDE 3.0.3
GNOME 2.0.1
In fact the PowerPack Edition 9.0 is available on one on bootable DVD :) so if you ever come across any DVDz with M/drake 9.0 on them then it's worth checking the DVD out as it may well contain the complete PowerPack Edition.
You asked if the three iso files were all you need, well you only really need the first two ie;MandrakeLinux-9.1rc2-CD1.i586.iso + MandrakeLinux-9.1rc2-CD2.i586.iso (didn't the first CD have the letters 'inst'in the filename?,for example;Mandrake90-cd1-inst.i586.iso ?),never mind if not,it's nothing to worry about.
CD3 contains extra RPMSz but it also contains a kernel update as well as various source packages, apps & utils so it's upto you if you think you need them but you can install and have a perfectly working installation without CD3.
I mentioned LICQ in a previous post when you enquired about a linux port of ICQ,although I mentioned LICQ I clear forgot to tell you it's on your discs and depending on what kind of install you do,will/should be installed anyway,it works exactly the same as ICQ in so much that you can just hit 'already have an ICQ account' when setting it up and away you go :) .

You mentioned having your linux box as a firewall/gateway with your windows box/boxes accessing the net through the linux box, this url might help there,

Apart from the content on these pages, there are heaps of links taking you to related sites.
I went over my download limit for the month and now I'm capped at 28.8
What type of connection do you normally have?,56k?.I shudder to think you are attempting to d/l a linux distro with a 56k  .
I presume from what you say about being restricted to 28k that as opposed to just giving you no access at all,you still get 28k access?.
It's better than no access at all though huh!.
Also, what download manager do you use?,I used to use GoZilla(win32) which was good apart from the CyDoor adware/spyware it installs so I changed to GetRight which is free to use for as long as you want, or you can buy the Pro version which IMHO does exactly the same but with a more complicated looking GUI LoL!.
If you want to PM or e-mail me I'll arrange something with you about either getting you sorted out with Mandrake 9.0 PowerPack Edition if you would like?,it's no problem at all.
Do you have a PO Box?.
Good Luck and don't forget the answer to your question is never more than a mouse-click away!

Thanks for the links, I'm sure I'll find them useful.
What type of connection do you normally have?
Cable, but it is limited to 3 gigs download per month and gets capped to 28.8 after the limit is exceeded.
Also, what download manager do you use?
I use Flashget, which I believe to be better than gozilla and getright. Does linux have a download manager, if so, do you know what it is called?
Do you have a PO Box?
Unfortunately I don't. :( And I really don't want to have to trouble you since you live on the other side of the Earth.
Thanks again,
Cheers.

I think it should be possible. I know I've heard some people who were using the 9.0RCs upgrade to the full release, though I'm not sure if it was through mandrake update, rpmdrake, or just doing a cooker upgrade on the day the final is released. I'd think though that it might be as easy as just reconfiguring your urpmi sources to point to the 9.0 final rpm repositories once that comes out, and telling urpmi to upgrade anything that's lagging behind on your setup. You might want to give a shout to the mandrake newsgroup at alt.os.linux.mandrake, I'm sure someone there would have a more definite answer..
