View Full Version : Resizing an existing avi without re-encoding?

Hiya people, I've got a movie, but the aspect ratio is weird, it's 16:9 when it's supposed to be 2.32:1 so you can imagine it looks a little tall. Black borders are also present.

As it's already been encoded, is it possible to resize the movie without actually re-encoding?

I tried running it through virtual dub but I can't use filters to resize it and crop it without actually re-encoding with something like Divx or xVid.

If you have the CPU cycles FFdshow can do it on playback. Otherwise no.

Oh, ok :(

What about encoding it, I tried in vdub but it complained saying that the source image file is not acceptable (error code -2). Does that mean anything to anyone?

Just fix it on playback with BSPlayer or ZoomPlayer. Put it in as a custom AR. Problem solved.

The video width and height need to be multiples of 8 or so. At least even numbers.
