Hey everyone.

Dealing with bad VHS Sources, I came across the usage of Time-Base-Correctors to eliminate the Jitter. As i browsed through the forums, there was always the suggestion of buing a hardware-tbc because there seems to be no filter (avisynth/VD) or whatsoever peace of Software that could do it. The reason seems to be that a sw-filter canīt detect, whether the scanline is "in place" or not.

Looking at how a hardware-tbc works, i figured that it just analyzes the h-sync of each scanline and puts them back together aligned in an new picture. right?

Thinking of that - isnīt it possible to programm a "normal" brooktree based TV Card to detect those Sync-Signals and re-allign them?

I know, that once the A/D-Process is done and the picture-content is in the software, there is no way of knowing, how much the single scanline is displaced horizontaly, but if theres a chance to "look" at the inputsignal the way a tbc does..... might work....

What do u guys think?

Greetings Reiner
