SONY DRU500AX was good now bad

I have had two DRU500AX one did not burn Khpermedia the new one did on IDE 2 set as slave could burn at one 1X when set to master it could burn at 2X. Well I format my C drive and just install Nero and no it can no long burn KHpermedia. First off I use a Blank DVD-R KHpermedia to test to see if I have problem's. this disc has never been burned. It has passed with the DRU500AX and now can not pass a burn test with the same blank DVD-R KHpermedia disc. my Pioneer AO4 can burn these with no problem.

Just out of interest, what motherboard do you have?

Did you install the exact same operating system and drivers? When I applied service pack 3 to Windows 2000, my DRU-500A started having problems. When I loaded an earlier backup it worked fine again. However, I also applied the new Via 4-in-1 drivers so I'm not sure which piece of software made the Sony unhappy.

MSI K7T 266A turbo. I first install in on my PC with windows 2000 serice pack 3 and had nothing but problem's. So I format the drive thinking my I might have a bad OS installed. So I installed XP no problem's. I was regedit my window's to get rid of alot on junk running XP like the little dog in search and I messed up Window's XP. So I went back to windows 2000 installed service pack 2 I have it on a CD and did a windows update to get service pack 3 after that DRU500AX would not work on Hkpermedia of Memorex DVD-R. Also I want to say I have a back of Windows 2000 on a PNY CDR when I want to install windows 200 again it crashed on the DRU500AX this CDR work's fine on my Pioneer AO4 and LG burner and my other PC with two HP burner's and my Hitachi DVD drive. The DRU500AX just could not read this CDR. So I re-burned it to a Memorex CDR then the DRU500AX could read it no problem

Just installed Windows XP DRU500AX is working great. Very buggy with windows 2000

To get DRU500AX this is what I did I install the newest Via driver's adn service pack 3 and NERO 5.5.10.15a all problem's are fixed

This is the last update I thought I fixed the DRU500AX problem. But it seem's one time's I can burn Khpermedia and Memorex DVD-R. If you have the DRU500AX the newest version NERO is the best in windows 2000. XP 55107 work's as good as the newest version. This drive also work's best when set to master. Also this drive for testing seem's to work fine with USB or firewire. I'm bring this drive back I gave it one last chance. If you want to burn DVD-R Pioneer or Cendyne. If you want to burn DVD+R I would stick with HP. i have a Pioneer AO4 and it can burn hkpermedia and Memorex ever time with out any problem's
