Hey guys....
I'm in the process of encoding all the Star Trek: TNG episodes to SVCD and I'm curious as to the best options to use. Each episode is less than 1 hour so what should I set the max bitrate to??
I encoded Episode 1 (it's 1 1/2 hours) already using MP VBR 4 passes. It put 44 minutes on 1 CD and approx 44 on CD 2. It came out looking and sounding just fine. I really wanted to have 1 hour on CD1 and 30+ min on CD2 but the bitrate tab confuses me.
I have the bitrate tab set to 0-50 Use 1 CD Size 800. Is that correct? Should I have set it to 0-60?
Thanks for any advice you can give....

Actually asking what is best is against forum rules at it is too subjective. Try different settings yourself with a few chapters and a cdrw disc and see for yourself. This way doesn't take long.
Watch that 128 bit audio. Many DVD players hate it and it causes problems on playback. Best set it to at least 160 if not higher.
If you want to put over 45 minutes on a single disc you are better off doing a VCD instead. With the smaller resolution the bits get distributed better.
DVD2SVCD always tries to figure to fill the cd's and there is no option to put more video on one disc then the other. The only time this happens is when the bitrate and the video length are not enough.
The bitrate tab works by looking at the entire video length and not how much you want on each disc. So if your entire video is 90 minutes DVD2SVCD uses the settings it finds in the section that 90 minutes falls into. A common mistake is to think that the time is how much you want on a disc. This is wrong. The time refelects the whole movie and if your video does not fall in that section, that section is ignored. Only one section is used.
