I wonder if the new Nero version has now finally fixed the annoying DVD burning bug which caused incompatibility with standalone players.

Does anyone know yet?

i just installed fresh 5.5.10.15 on fresh installed winxp pro sp1 pc

using dvdxcopy split dvd onto hard drive and using nero to burn it and still won't play on my pioneer 16x 106s or my liteon 16x 165H dvd-roms

tried in nero

dvd-video mode
udf/iso mode

tried dvdburn as well and didn't work so not sure if it's just nero

using dvdxcopy's own inbuilt burner the dvd burn and play back fine

using Pioneer 2x DVD-RW media

P4 2.4B
P4G8X
2GB DDRAM dual ddr
2 x 800JB Raid 1 OS on 4 channel rocketraid404 controller
2 x 800JB Raid 1 DATA on 4 channel rocketraid404 controller
LiteON 16x 165H primary master
Pioneer DVR-A05 burner secondary master

not sure about standalone players

Well, i made a backup of a DVD (Ifoedit to create the new vobs's), burning with the latest Nero 5.5.10.15 in DVD-Movie mode, and it played very well in my Pionner 104-R, my Samsung DVD-Rom Sd 616, and my standalone Philips 633.

No problem whatsoever.

Hi,
I don't know for Nero 5.5.10.15, but the bug was in the 5.5.10.1 version. I couldn't burn 1 playable DVD !

Now, I'm burning with the 5.5.10.7 version for 2 or 3 weeks, and I didn't have one problem in 25-30 Back-ups. Works perfectly on every standalone player I've tested on.

So, the bug may be fixed in 5.5.10.15, but you can have another one in this latest version. Use a tested & approved one, instead of being a beta-tester at your expenses :-)

Why don't you just test it with DVDRW media? That's what I do.

Well, they launched a new version, 5.5.10.15a

but according to their site, only the peolple that installed the old version in win9x or win me need the new version.

Nero Express is now included in the demoversion of Nero.

We have replaced the web version 5.5.10.15 with version 5.5.10.15a due to a problem with one driver.
If you have downloaded the web version 5.5.10.15 before and you are using Windows 95, 98 or ME, please download this file (nerocd95.zip) and extract it to Windows Installation Folder\SYSTEM\IOSUBSYS.
We apologize for the inconvenience.

Instead of using nero, why don't you just use Imgtool?? It's free and works perfectly with burning dvd's. I have never had a problem with Imgtool.

Everyone who uses ImgTool automatically uses Nero because ImgTool uses the Nero API. The images also have to be burnt with Nero because of the image format.

There are other programs available that can correctly burn DVDs but you use Nero. Why? Because you like it, because it has certain advantages for you. And you also don't want to have tons of programs installed that all do nearly the same. Absolutely understandable.

Just because of a bug you started to use ImgTool, that simply functions as a workaround.

I rather want to use a functional program instead of a buggy one with a workaround, and I think that's plain logical.

So that may be the reason why people want a Nero that has fixed this damn bug. ;)

I agree that they should fix the damn bug, but who wants to burn coasters?? Use Imgtool and avoid burning coasters. It's your choose though if you want to keep wasting money.

I've got w98 first edition and 5.5.10.15. It's work great. None coasters. Ofcourse I upgraded Nero, but I don't see any changes.

Media burned Nero 5.5.9.17 doesn't works with Pioneer 350, but burned 5.5.10.7b (ofcourse 15 too) works great.

I burned a DVD-R using Nero 5.5.10.15. Wouldn't playing in my Toshiba SD4205, but it did play in my Genica GN-800. Burned the same VIDEO_TS folder with RecordNow Max 4.1 (although that program is giving me some problems as of late) and it played fine in both players. I'm a little upset with Nero. I just can't figure out how the hell to make it burn 100% compatible discs. Maybe it's a setting or something. I'm going to look into imgtools.

I've NEVER had a problem with Nero until this new version. Its all I've ever burned with, but after an OS reinstall I updated to 5.5.10.15 and proceded to burn 5 bad disk. I noticed there is a check box now to force DVD compliance and notes its needed for xbox, but either check or uncheck I was just getting coasters... oh well. I downgraded and the last burn worked... hopefully it was just NERO.

never had 1 coaster out of 30 dvds, there was one thing though if you looked carefully through the program you would find an added compatability box which i think padded the dvd or summit but i never used it.i did get the 5.510b update and again not one coaster the program rocks, its too easy for people to blame the prog not them selves or the system config they have.
