DVD only reads in Sony DRU500 AX

I recently bought a Sony DRU500AX for a friend's computer. I ripped using DVD decrypter and then tried burning using Nero 5.5.9.17 and tried burning using DVD decrypter. I've tried three different kinds of media, including the +RW that comes with the drive. In all cases it says the burn was successful, but the only drive that will read the disc is the Son DRU 500AX. I have the same software and follow the same steps with my Sony DRU 500A and it works fine and plays in every player I've tested it in. Is this a problem with the drive not finalizing the discs? Any help would be great.

After one week with a sony 500ax I am delighted. OS is Win XP. No trouble burning with Nero, Instant Copy, Record Now DX, or DVD Decrypter. My three stand alones, a Panasonic RV-80, Phillips 724 and Latronix Delta 1000 play the Ritek DVD-R's great. I have burned Sony and Imation +RW's which play great on the 500ax but don't play at all on the stand a lones.I burn the Riteks at 2x with no problems.

I also recently bought a Sony DRU-500AX. I have not had any problems with +RWs, -RWs or -Rs playing on my computer Pioneer DVD or my two stand alones (Sony DVP-S530D and Apex AD-1201). I did however have problems with Verbatim +R media playing on my stand alones. Either they would freeze after the movie started or the players would fail to read them and give me a dirty disc error.

i've found the easiest way to burn a dvd-video is to use imgtools and then make an iso and use dvd-decrypter to burn it. takes about mebbe like 6-7 mins longer and u can't verify the data with dvd decrypter (plus the software isn't as good as nero) but it ALWAYS works in my standalone. worth doing it this way until nero fixes their dvd video template (or u have the patience to figure out exactly how to setup a new template with the right settings and an rw disc). not really worried about data verification cuz i only buy quality discs now (apples and taiyo yudens)
