I've been puchasing ritek g03's from http://www.hypermicro.com for the last 6 months and the specific one's they sent me are Gold Tops that have stamped "DVD / DVD-R For Video and Data 2x 120min/4.7gb" and deep purple bottoms. My problem is i'm unable to find them anymore since hypermicro has gone to g04's now which i have no use. The dvdr's come in small 25 pack cakeboxes and were bundled together for packs of 100. I'm trying to find these again online but have had very little luck. If anyone has a spot where i can pick these up please help me out =)

Thanks in advance

Seems like hypermicro aren't the only ones sold out of them, even rim.com is out of stock.

Are they the exact one's i'm talking about because i've checked out rima.com and have so far yet to see the one's mentioned above. I'm drawing a blank everywhere else as well

http://www.allmediaoutlet.com

I'm currently using these that they sell, I guess the top is Gold'ish but it has nothing stamped on the top. The bottom is the same purple media that you're talking about though. They do identify as G03 in DVDDecrypter.

If you click on "combo deals" they've got an image of the top and bottom of the discs.

Just a FYI. I bought some more ritek "g03's" a few weeks ago from Meritline but I have noticed a difference. The color is slightly lighter than the usual dark pink. Also, they no longer work in my PS2. These are the shiny silver top Ritek 2x discs. I bought some of them before, right after they had transitioned from the gold/plastic overlayed top to this shiny top and they worked fine, but this 2nd batch of shiny top ones seem to be less compatible.

Hi,
check that discs with advinfo and see if they arenīt by the way G02.
Post your results here please.

It's well known that meritline ship different brands of discs when they run out of stock without informing the customer.

My guess would be you received, either optodisc, or leda discs. But advdinfo/dvd decrypter should prove it.

Is there a way to find out what discs they are not using ADVINFO? I have firewired the drives and they don't show up in the program. Also, when I try to load the disc in my normal DVD-Rom (which also happens to be SCSI), WinXP crashes... So, is there another way to find out what the heck i bought?

Put the disc in your writer, load dvd decrypter, select mode\iso\write and it will show you the manufacturer id.

This isn't good news:

Pre-recorded Information:
Manufacturer ID: RITEKG03

... They don't play in my PS2. ;(
