I've been using TMPGEnc to encode HDTV (via DVD2AVI, MPEG2DEC3, and AVISynth) to my own DVDs for a few months. There seems to be a definite preference of many people here to use CCE rather than TMPGEnc. What are the key benefits of the new (affordable!) CCE Basic vs. TMPGEnc?

Speed?
Usability?
Quality?

And what features does TMPGEnc support that I would lose by switching to CCE Basic?

This is very similar to a question I posted both here and else ware and might I add with the same results. I can only think that either there is no answer or no one is home?

the encoding quality for CCE Basic will be EXACTLY the same as CCE SP (given the same encoding settings).

but CCE Basic does miss out on some of the filtering stuff.

see this thread for more info: http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?s=&threadid=47185
