Use this as a sort of db so you can have some small filesize prediction when working with Instantcopy. Please add your own (precise) findings to it.

Patzik, do both episodes come across in IC as just one title? If not, you should input what % you used for each episode, otherwise there's no predictability.

It might be more helpful if we post the actual percentages used for each title set and exclude any titles not included.

Like this:

Farscape S1 Disc 4 - NTSC

36 Menus
100 Title1
100 Title2
70 Title4 (episode 1)
70 Title9 (episode 2)
53 Title10 (extras)

NOTES: Removed all Stereo audio only kept AC3 english. Only titles removed were ADV trailers and intros.

Predicted size: 4.44
Actual: 4.35

I have done Farscape, X-Files, and the Ring with IC and I will add my results in the next few days.

I did ask Pinnacle to add a profiles text file that gets generated with each movie you do and includes the same information above. Hopefully they will add this and all we need to do is cut and paste. BTW- if you agree this is a good feature to add then let Pinnacle know as well.

Agreed. Where did you ask Pinnacle for the profile feature?

reg settings will also be needed to make it more accurate

and also mention if it's a complete 1:1 and nothing has been removed

if poss the DVD number also, cos some DVD's have so many versions these days :)

then it will be a big help for those doing 1:1 cos they will just rip, change reg settings, setup IC, and process and get roughly the same results

I wouid like to help you guys but seeing as I strip stuff out etc, mine would not be the same due to the customizing

the only benefit would be if I said at 75% the movie actually comes out at 69% so you would now what to expect from the movie title

you wud know what to expect from titles at certain settings, takes a couple of mins to fill in but it wud save others loadsa time

you could use the data and know that a title when set to that value will come out at a certain size,

audio/subs are irrelavent in a way cos they are constant throughout so you would just record the amount you kept

have a look at the modded recorder I did HERE (http://www.deano.dsl.pipex.com/temp/records.xls)

I posted it in this thread, since it was a compilation of requests to be submitted to Pinnacle.
http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?s=&threadid=50212

I also am going to post the same in the Pinnacle Forum when I get a chance.

Here is what I suggested:

2) text files that write to a directory that record encoding parameters for later reference.

It should keep track of:
- project name (i.e. Terminator 2: SE)
- start and end date/time
- total size of video actual vs projected vs final
- projected size and actual final PDI size
- deselected titles and audio
- selected titles and audio
- compression percentages for each title

Basically I would use these for future reference on how to encode other titles and may include the file on the DVD so I know what quality level it was encoded at.

Also would like the option to import back in these parameters. For example say the size turned out too big and I wanted to redo it. Rather than redoing all my setting of parameters, I could import the old ones by project name and then tweak one of the title sets and restart. This would save alot of time.

NOTE: I let IC remove streams and have had no problems. However, the DVD will not play until you fix TITLE2 (VTS_02_0.IFO). Fixing this will also get rid of the FBI warning and other intros. Follow these steps:

1. Open VTS_02_0.IFO in IFOEdit
2. Go to VTS_PGCITI
3. Go to VTS_PGC_1
4. Scroll down to "PGC Program Map:"
5. Now Change each program to the shortest Cell since this is a blank video stream less than a second.

- Edit each by double clicking on each one
- Find the shortest cell by scrolling down and looking for the
shortest playback time (i.e. 00:00:00.15 - less than 1 second)

Titantic:R2 00421DVD (2.30:1 ratio)

only 2 titles on this DVD, 1st is movie and 2nd is trailer

IC reports the main movie video as 5.75Gb when it's actually 6.299Gb reported by DVDToolbox!

same happened with the resulting files, IC reports 3.67Gb when in fact it is 3.79Gb

ignored IC's figures and used DVDToolbox to work out % setting (won't bother showing calcs :D)and it came out just right, but of course that's cos I'm a little more familiar with the calculations and getting better results out of IC
