I hope my writer isn't fried. Here's the problem: I was installing a new AMD system and I was trying to find a hard drive that had nothing on it (or at least XP). Anyways I grabbed the one I didn't want (98), had it hooked up with my writer and the system went into the BIOS setup mode. Initially, it recognized it as a DVD drive. I think after the system went through its OS set-up (trying to recognize all the new hardware) it had some issues with certain devices. The system rebooted and as usuall with win 98, it was hanging so i stopped it. This seems to be the last incindence of my DVD writer being recognized. I've tried EVERYTHING. New cables. Different Configs. Even tried it on my other system and sure enough nothing can find it IF anyone could offer any advice it would be extremely appriciated.

Thanks

One of the pins on the back of the recorder was bent. All fixed!
