I am looking for a proggy to edit subtitles, e.g. to correct the spelling, remove hearing impaired text etc.
I searched the software page, I did not like, what I found.
Subtitle Studio looks quite promising. ( I am not able to insert any lines, afer I have chosen a "New Project" though.
:stupid:
Any other recommendations?

You may not like my answer but :
* Subrip 1.15 to to the post-OCR corrections
* M$ Word to do the spelling corrections
* SubAdjust to correct subs in time
* Notepad to edit them
And if you use linux :
* KSubEditor to edit & correct timing
* ASpell for the spelling
They are not all in one programs, but they are very good in their domains.

Yep, why not use a normal text-editor.
But how can I easily delete subtitles from a srt-file?
The subtitles are serially numbered. After deleting a line, do I have to renumber all following subtitles?
I could convert from subrip to microDVD, do the changes and convert it back to subrip ;)
Is it the way to go?
BTW: Thanx for the input.

It's the way I would go. The srt format is not meant for editing. But since I mainly correct the timing of the subs, I prefer mDVD format, it's a lot more precise ( I can get the frame number from BSPlayer, but I can't have the timing with milliseconds ). I only use srt format if I have to put the subs in an OGM container.

a nice program I just discovered and that would help you do that in a user-friendly way (understand : not with notepad ;)) is Subtitle Workshop...
a quite nice piece of software that would be perfect if it offered the possibility to manage styles... but as you're dealing with srt, you don't care about those, do you ? ^^
here is a link if you want to give it a try ;)

Yeah, I have to agree. ;)
This is one of the best subtitle tools, I have encountered.
It is really powerful, and it has all nice features I need.
It seems that not many people in this forum know of it.

Too ;)
If you add or remove lines in a .srt with a text editor, just load the .srt again in subrip, it will correct the line numbering automatically (just load and save again)

Subtitle Workshop does just the same, the text editor isn't needed anymore.
