As I am a Scenarist newbie, I'm not sure what to do here. I used beta version of ReAuthorist to create the scripts.
Can anyone help?

Hi sidders,
I think this would be more a problem for me to look into - it may be a bug in my program :( . Whilst the tool is still in beta, it's probably best to handle these problems offline of the forums. I'll get in touch with you about it through email.
In the meantime, we have a new forum "DoItFast4U and DoCCE4U" that is probably best suited to the new automation tools.

Phew! It wasn't a bug after all :)

I try to rebuild a movie, which has PGC with a movie that is 1.2 seconds long.
This short movie is split up into seven chapters, each showing a message in a different language.
Could it be that Scenarist cannot rebuild such a thing, since the minimal duration of a scene must be at least 0.4 secs.
What can be done to rebuild such a DVD?
Any insight would be very helpful.
Cheers

Hi mikel,
What you're describing sounds like a slide show. These types of PGCs are quite tricky to reconstruct and are not currently supported by ReAuthorist since they either require ripping by vobid or cellid or recreating by taking screen shots. So, let's try to find a workaround for you to get your disc built...
How big is the VTS that this PGC is a part of? If it's not too large then I would forget about reauthoring it, and just copy the decrypted VTS directly with the other menu files and small VTSs. If it is quite large then you will need to reconstruct it, but I won't go there until you've confirmed the first option.

Unfortunatly the PGC is part of the main movie, which in this case is VTS_2
It's like this:
VTS_1: menus n stuff
VTS_2:
PGC_1: main movie
PGC_2: some kind of empty space
PGC_3: diclaimers as described above
The only way i see at the moment is to completly reconstruct PGC_3 which will use up quite some time.
One possible way would be to strech the whole movie so that each chapter is at least 0.4 seconds long.
So this disclaimer movie had a length of around 2.5 seconds instead of 1.2 seconds.
Is there a software that can achieve such a thing?

Mikel: I don't think that wouldn't be a very efficient way of going about doing this. The plan would be to use the original M2Vs to reauthor this PGC. So that I can suggest how to do this, please could you give us a screenshot of what this PGC looks like in IfoEdit?

Find enclosed the zipped ifo file. It has a smalle file size than a screen shot.
Let me know what you think about it.

@Mikel: seems to be a corrupt file there :( Please could you try again?

Well, I got Mikel's IFO. Here is the screenshot I took of the VTS overview.

You can see that the third PGC consists of seven chapters, which in this case represent seven slides, each lasting for 10 seconds. Each slide is also a separate vobid. I have come up with the following instructions based on my own experimentation, and seems to work for those DVDs that I have tested it on. Try it out for yourself and see if it works.
To reconstruct this in Scenarist, we need to demux this PGC by vobid using DoItFast4U. We are not going to re-encode, since the frame loss introduced by DVD2AVI/mpeg2dec will kill our stills - they are not so big anyway so this should not be a problem.
Once we have the demuxed content, we need to create it in the Scenarist project that already contains the rest of your layout. Import your PGC3 assets into the data folder. All of the video tracks should be recognised as encoded stills - if not there are some special steps to be taken, but I won't outline these here.
Now, drag each of the encoded stills into the track editor to create separate tracks for each one - this will make a new vobid for each. When prompted for what type of track to create, select Slide Show. Then, drill down into each of your tracks in turn and:
Click on the image that is in the "Still" stream - this should open up its attributes in the property browser below. Adjust the duration so that it matches the duration from the IFO
If any are present, assign the audio streams for that vobid
Import any subpictures that are present
Now in the scenario editor, add a new title to the appropriate VTS and drag the first of your slide show tracks onto that title to create the first PGC. For each of your remaining slide show tracks, drag them onto the PGC to create Programs for each.
You are now ready to create your DVD. Simple innit aie!? :D (If not, let me know what you would like me to expand upon).

Hi aquabubble
Thanks a lot, I did some tests and your method seems to work fine. I will now try to compile the DVD and see if it's working.
At some point, will Reauthorist be able to handle situations like this?
Cheers

Once ReAuthorist goes to vobid re-authoring then it should be able to handle these kinds of PGCs. Unfortunately, until this happens, it is very difficult to determine without manual work whether a PGC needs to be rebuilt in this way :(
