So, I decided to have a go at re-encoding one of my films (Terminator) I did test encodes of the first minute or so of the film and I followed the doom9 guides fairly closely.
Now, as it turns out after looking at the encodes fairly closely ReMPEG2 came out as the best quality, which I found a bit surprising considering how the guides say you achieve better quality with CCE & Tmpgenc instead of ReMPEG2, it was mostly minor stuff... like I could notice macroblocks on fade ins on the CCE & TMPGEnc encodes but I simply could not notice any macroblocks etc at all in the ReMPEG2 transcode.
So, i've decided to give Terminator a go transcoding the entire film to 82% of its original bitrate.. which is really a test run for my T2 and Leon region 1 dvd's since my dvd player isn't multiregion and is stuck on region 2 until I get arsed enough to get it chipped.
However... well, look at the time its taking for transcoding in the pics..
