hey all :)

re-authoring has come so far, doom9's and trilights guides are incredible, but unfortunately, i am still a little confused on some of scenarist's quirks.

i trawled the forums for quite some time and couldn't find what i needed :( so i thought i'd ask, i hope no one minds...

i'm having some vob-id / structural problems with fawlty towers ntsc version. hilarious series btw. um,

ifo screenshot (http://www.reverbandechoes.com/images_misc/fawltytowersdisc2ifo.gif)

perhaps someone could take a look at this ifo screenshot and give me a quick rundown on the best way to rip and reauthor this? i don't have trouble ripping or encoding, mainly the re-authoring, but it couldn't hurt to doublecheck my process...

i use doitfast4u (since it's not seamless/multiangle, i don't do by vobid?), cce, then scenarist 2.6.

i can't seem to rebuild the structure in scenarist, no matter what i do, the vob-ids are wrong?

vts is fine, titles are fine, pgcs are fine, chapters are fine, cells are fine, but vob-id isn't...?

any help is much appreciated.

can you give some more info on what's exactly wrong?

sure :)

what's wrong is for some reason i still can't wrap my head around the transistion from .ifo to scenarist structure :)

actually though,

when i look at trilight or doom9s guides, they mirror the structure of the ifoo exactly. and i can't do that.

i can make the vts, titles, chapters, and cells properly, but the vob-id's are all messed up.

for example, in the first pgc, there is 8 chapters and 8 cells, and all 8 cells have the same vob-id. vob id 2. when i drag my chapters/cells onto my pgc in scenarist, it creates vob-id's 1 through 8, but i want them all to be vob-id two. i think. because i'm not 100% on the scenarist structure thing :(

anyway, when i reauthor and burn. the main menu works fine but chapter and scene selection hang, i don't think they point to the right thing...

If you just extract everything by PGC there should be no problem at all.

Just create a title and add 6 pgcs in scenarist. Then start dragging and dropping your tracks in the same order as your ifo.

Did you add chapter points to all of your tracks/pgc? You can do this using ifoupdate. Choose save chapter points per pgc.

you might want to look at the tips & tricks section of trilights site, it has a little pic similar to yours, but each bit is explained as layed out in scenarist.

yeah, i did that first thing. and trilights guide is incredible! :)

but if you look at trilights, you can see he managed to get all the vob-ids to match from his ifo and scenarist...

for the life of me, i cannot get my vob-id's to be correct.

this is the structure i need:

pgc 1
|.......\
|........\
chap 1......chap 2
|..............|
|..............|
cell 1.........cell 2
|..............|
|..............|
vob-id 2...vob-id 2

but for pgc 1, instead of all my vob-id's being 2

they number 1,2,3,4,5 etc...

U can see by inspecting the ifo structure that the vobid-1 is 31secs and it is used in pgc 5. I am concluding that the 1st 31sec of the video stream r used at pgc5 as vob 1.

To recreate exactly the vob ids of the structure u have to create them in the order wanted. That is create a track that has only the 1st 31 secs first and it will have id-1

Same goes for the others. ie the 2nd track would be vobid-2 etc. To my expierence this doesn't affect at all the reauthoring proccess and u may skip the exact replication of vobids. Recently I am reauthoring using adjasted cell mode and never had any problems. In adjasted cell mode all vobs r id-1.
