IFOUpdate and time access

I've been playing around with IFOEdit to re-encode the video and merge it back onto the an original DVD menu generally without problem. Whether it was manually or with IFOUpdate, the chapters are also no problem but the direct access gets messed up--both on a regular set-top DVD player using time search or on a software player by moving the slider. Have I missed something or is this an issue that simply isn't accounted for in IFOUpdate??? If this has already been discussed someone please direct me there!
