Ok all I want to do is make my 4.8 gig movie(no extras) fit on a Dvd-r with CCE. I'm using the trial version and looked at the guides but they're really confusing to me right now and hopefully one of you can explain it better. Now some questions. Can I reduce the size of my movie just by using CCE? How the hell do I open my files in CCE? Tried converting with DVD2AVI but only get an audio file. Sorry, I am completely new to CCe and I really want to see the quality it can produce. Been using dvd2one and just want to compare myself. Do you guys really see a difference in quality?
Thanks for your help.

The guides are pretty good at explaining it. First you need to get the full version of CCE or you'll have a watermark all over your movie which won't be fun.
Next get AVISynth 2.7 or the latest and run whatever installer they have. Get the MPEG2Dec.dll from doom9.org
You'll also need bitrate viewer and pulldown.exe
Next run your movie through IFOEdit so it gets down to the bare min in size.
Then open the first VOB in DVD2AVI, figure out if it's progressive or interlaced (most can use Forced Film)
Set your video settings, your audio should be on Demux
Select Save Project
You'll get an audio file and a .d2v file
Create a text file with these lines:
LoadPlugin("C:\PROGRA~1\GORDIA~1\mpeg2dec.dll")
mpeg2source("D:\rmd\rmd.d2v")
ResampleAudio(44100)
Edit the file so that the file locations are correct. Save the file as movie.avs
Open CCE and load this file (right click on the white space and say open file)
Use the settings for CCE in the guide
Once you have your finished file, use pulldown.exe and load both the video and audio into an authoring program. Build the DVD and burn.
Hope this makes some sense. Really, just follow the guides word for word. It takes a few times but soon you won't even need the guide.
