I am not really sure where to place this and how to start this "project"
I need to turn a DVD ( private home movie ) into an MPEG File, then I have to cut a few scenes from this MPEG and burn a DVD once again from this file.
What programs would YOU use to achieve this? Anything I should especially look out for that I might trip over?
Best regards,

Need to edit out those porn scenes of you and the misses before you can show the videos to the in-laws, 'eh?
1) Rip your DVD to your HD as elementry streams (a video .M2V and an audio .PCM).
2) Convert the audio to PCM (if not already) and remux with the video .M2V into a MPG program stream.
3) Create a .D2V file of your .M2V video, then create an .AVS script of this file, then load into VirtualDub.
4) Create a TIME MAP of the video that you want to keep.
5) Use TMPG FILES>MPEG TOOL>CUT EDIT to create the pieces that you want to keep, by using the TIME MAP from step 4 (do NOT look at the video - it's wrong).
6) When done with step 5, you will have "X" number of video chunks that you now have to rejoin.
7) Use TMPG FILES>MPEG TOOL>CUT EDIT to join the segments into one file.
This will give you a .MPG file that you can now import into a DVD authoring program. You might need to edit the audio at the join points for loud pops in the sound. Once rejoined, you can convert the audio to any format that you desire.

I wish it was a porn movie  but it is a boring wedding movie of a friend of mine and I transfered it to DVD from VHS for him - stupid him he recorded a soccer game ( 30 seconds of iit before he noticed WHAT tape he was recording on) on to the VHS! His wife almost killed him because of it - now I forgot to remove it BEFORE I transfered it to DVD :( - but with that many steps involved I will just go through the pain and transfer it again from VHS and cut the scenes BEFORE.
Thanks for your kind help.

My way would be much faster than your VHS transfer method.
