i'm trying to rip a dvd -> dvd (buffy season 5 disc 1). using TRILIGHT's uber guide.
Well, i have so far at least an image which i can mount an it plays ... at least in WinDVD, PowerDVD doesn't want to play it.
what i've tried so far:
i've ripped everything into pieces with dif4u 1.0.9.0. if also made all the .sst files 4 me but the timecodes for the german subs were wrong (each sub lasted for 2 frames, any idea why???).
then i've encoded the 4 episodes, result looks great.
next icluded everything into scenarist and made the tracks out of it, but: 2 problems
1.
each episode has audio track 1 (english) + 2 (german). but episode 2 has also audio track 3 (comments) which is 96kbit. i don't have a dummy file for that type, so i've simply inculded that stream as track 3 to all 4 episodes. scenarist give me a warning if i don't add track 3 to the other 3 episodes.
2.
each episode has sub stream 1 (english) + 2 (german). but episode 2 has also sub stream 4, and NO 3. then episode 3 has sub stream 3, and NO 4. episodes 1+4 have both just 2 sub stream.
how do i set the sub stream correctly? especially for episode 2. i've done it now so that for episode 2 i use first the 2 sub streams (english+german) then a dummy stream with just 1 picture and then then 4th stream (comment subs).
well then i muxed everything with scenarist, got some warnings that some subs exceed the scene ... boundaries. as i read that's no problem.
then i've coppied vts 1 (scripts) + 2 (20th cent fox intro) from the original dvd into my final directory. renamed the muxed files into vts 3 and copied them also into my final directory. then all the *._0.*, *.BUF, *.IFO, VIDEO_TS.* also coppied from the original dvd. i've run ifoupdate onto each ifo, to set it region free (maybe vts 3 would have been enough).
then i created the image with imgtools 0.89. the image seems to run normally (except the problem with the german subs (last only 2 frames)) in windvd but powerdvd locks itself when i try to play the mounted image. powerdvd play to original image without problems. is it safe to burn the image onto a dvd if just windvd plays it correctly?
hope didn't annoied u too much with my problem.
greetz piece.
p.s. maybe i should also mention, that i've encoded the video into progressive frames. the original dvd was interlaced. dunno it that makes a difference.
edit: problem with the subs lasted only for 2 frames was a bug in dif4u. seems to be solved in new version.
