Hi Everyone,
I have these 4 Audios on this particular PGC:----------

Audio 1: English (Dolby AC-3) 6ch 48Kbps DRC normal (ID: 0x80)
Audio 2: English (DTS ) 6ch 48Kbps DRC normal (ID: 0x89)
Audio 3: Magyar (Dolby AC-3) 2ch 48Kbps DRC normal (ID: 0x82)
Audio 4: Russian (Dolby AC-3) 2ch 48Kbps DRC normal (ID: 0x83)

I only want to keep the DTS Audio 2: ID 0x89 . How should i add the audio to my scenarist project? I was thinking that all i have to do is first add a dummy 6ch AC3 stream at audio 1 and then add eight 2ch AC3 dummy streams and then at last the DTS original one so that it gets the ID 89. But Scenarist wouldnt let me do it. Any ideas how should i go about it.

Thanks in Advance.

No. DTS streams start at 88, so if you truly want it to remain 89, make it the second stream, as it is in the original.

mpucoder , Thanks for the reply.
I am sorry but i didnt quite follow you. What do you mean by "make it the second stream". As i am only keeping the DTS stream, how should i use the dummy files. Thats what i did :----------

Audio 1: dummy 6ch ac3
Audio 2: original DTS
Audio 3: dummy 2ch AC3
Audio 4: dummy 2ch AC3

But it didnt work. Please help further.

Thanks.

student: that is correct. When you say it "doesn't work", what do you mean?

Thanks aquabubble,
It means that when i play the movie ifo with windvd i dont hear any audio. i have audio when the logos and menu are playing (because i didnt change the other 2 VTSs at all) , but when the actual movie starts (the authored VTS) i donr hear any audio unless i go the properties and select dts audio there. it always comes up with first audio selected.
Also i have just burnt the DVD-RW and play it in my standalone,it recoganises it as a DVD video disk but donr play it. the counter stays at 000:00.

I see... if I'm understanding correctly what you're doing, this is normal behaviour. If you go into the DVD's audio/languages menu and select the DTS track before playing the movie, it should play with the DTS sound. Your re-authored DVD has the same structure and behaviour as before, which was probably to play the DD5.1 track by default.

On the subject of your standalone playback problem, could you tell us what you used to burn it and whether you updated the VTS sectors before burning?

aquabubble ,
You are right if i select the dts track before playing its ok, but this mean i have to select the right audio in my standalone too. Or is there any way so that the standalone plays the DTS track by default.
With the burning issue, i am not settled on any particular method yet. I burnt the first one with imgtools(V 0.99.9) which is the new version and i dont know how to use it properly because in the guide (http://www.doom9.org/mpg/multipgc-guide.htm) the instuctions are for version 0.89. So waht i do is select the burner in Devices, tick both the boxes for realocate video_ts structure and enable DVD+- RW R high compatibility mode and then select the directory where VIDEO_TS folder is and then burn.
I burnt the first one ok. Please suggest the best possiblr way to burn. What i would really like to do is make an .ISO image of the AUDIO_TS and VIDEO_TS folders and burn with nero.
yes i updated the VTS sectors before burning. Is it correct that you have to save each ifo file manually before you quit ifoedit, after corrcting the VTS sectors by clicking the save button?

If you want the DTS as the default audio stream go to the ifo and make that the default and zero the other ones. (If I understood what your problem is, this should be easy as long as you have the same structure).
Read the tips and tricks from Trilight.

Student: I suggest that until it is confirmed that Ahead have fixed the problems with their DVD burning that you don't use Nero, nor the Nero engine used by ImgTools0.99.x - there are compatibility problems with some set top players. Also, I have had other compatibility problems with ImgTools0.99.x that the author has been unwilling to look into. Don't use it.

Version 0.89 is much better so use that to make your ISO and burn it using something other than Nero. Alternatively, just burn your VIDEO_TS folder with something like Prassi PrimoDVD or RecordNowMax.

Stress_analyst,
Thanks for the tips. Ill try it that way.

aquabubble,
My burner came with a burning software called B's Recorder Gold5. What you think about that. So you recomendthat i should'nt even burn an iso image file with nero?burn

Hi Again,
Ok i reauthored the whole dvd again and this time burnt with RecordNowMax and its the same result. It playes in the computer fine but in the standalone, it detects as a DVD Video disk but then dont play it at all. The counter on the display panel stsys at 000:00.
Any ideas, please.
Also would anyone know of if its possible to use Instantcopy to do everything else except encoding so that CCE can be used instead. I you know of a guide please let me know.
Thanks.

student,

This does sound like a problem commonly caused by one or more of the following issues:
Some files are missing from your DVD that your software player tolerates but your standalone doesn't
Your burning program is producing an incorrectly formatted disc
"Get VTS sectors" was not carried out on the new IFOs
For the first issue, the best test for a DVD that I have found is to use the DVD Play functionality in IfoEdit before burning - if this plays without error then it's almost 100% certain that it will play in your standalone. It may be that you've missed a Title, PGC or (unlikely) VTS in your reauthoring - I've seen software players tolerating these problems before.

For the second issue, how did you go about burning your disc this time round? Did you make an image using ImgTools and burn that in RNM or did you drag and drop your VIDEO_TS folder into a data project?

You say you did correct the VTS sectors, but it would do no harm to do this again in IfoEdit to ensure that everything is normal.

I can remember I had similar problems when I was first starting out - I was pulling my hair out, but eventually, with a bit of gumption, I got it to work. Stick at it and you will succeed. Personally, I wouldn't touch InstantCopy with a bargepole so please don't go down that route out of frustration.

I think you were right about the missing files. I think that was Video_ts.vob. So finally i managed to make an image with imgtools (.89) and burn with DVDDEC.
Now i have only one problem that is when after menus the main movie starts there is no sound untill i hit the audio button on the remote to change to the second stream or i select the dts audio from the menu. I have tried changing the number of the Audio 1 to 33024 with ifoedit dut there is no sound.

Thanks.
