New Here , New To DVD-R'S , Need Help

Hey peoples , I just need help converting mpg's to VBO cause I understand that DVD-R only takes VBO , I Tried using that program Ulead Movie Factory 2 and It always Freezes on me for some odd reason. I just need to transfer my mpg to VBO , Im making my vcd's to DVD-R back up's so I have less disc. can anyone help me out? anyway is fine besides Ulead Movie Factory and Ulead Movie Facotry 2! thanks in advance!

would it be under ''VCD and SVCD on DVD-Rs''
im sorry if i caused any trouble I am very new to dvd-r's.. and I would just like to save some space cause I have alot of chinese vcd's..sorry if I broke a rule
