I'm new to this, so I hope you can help me.
I have a couple of AVI and MPEG-movies on my cpu,
and I want to make a DVD of it on a simple "SONY CD-R 700MB"
I don't have a DVD-burner, do I need that?
Please help me, and if you know where I can get a guide,
thats even better! :)

If you want to create DVD's you need a DVD burner. You can however burn VCD's (Video CD's) which will in most cases play on a standalone DVD player (I'm guessing this is your goal). There are many guides which describe this particular approach on www.doom9.org (you found the forum, might as well take a look at the guides) or www.vcdhelp.com which apparently changed name to www.dvdrhelp.com . I am currently addresing the same problem but instead on a cd-r, I would like to burn my mpegs on a dvd-r. You can read about this here (http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?s=&threadid=46725)

Mini DVD's can be made on a CDR without a DVD writer.
