I'm rebuilding a DVD originally produced in DVD-It PE in Scenarist, in order to gain possible advantage of better compatibility with customer players across the world.
I am using the same assets as in the original disk, including the same bitrate settings for the Dolby audio portion, but am achieving an oversized disc in Scenarist.:
Error Total sector size<2300726> is larger than DVD disc capacity<2294912>
Error CheckFileSystem error returned.
Error Volume and Anchor files could not be created
Short of reducing the bitrate of the original MPEG asset, am I missing something? The project has just one VTS with a straightforward progression from cell to cell.
In an attempt to drop the project size a bit more, I even dropped the intro logo animation and removed those files from the scenario completely. Even so, the project is still too big, despite the fact that the entire project WITH logo animation did fit when authored in DVD-it PE.
Is there something about the way Scenarist muxes the files that results in larger vob files than the same project in DVD-it PE?
I have checked settings to make sure I'm not including any hidden assets or encoding the audio at some incredible bitrate.
My DVD-t folder for the project looks like this:
12,288 VIDEO_TS.BUP
12,288 VIDEO_TS.IFO
8,192 VIDEO_TS.VOB
45,056 VTS_01_0.BUP
45,056 VTS_01_0.IFO
235,520 VTS_01_0.VOB
1,073,709,056 VTS_01_1.VOB
1,073,709,056 VTS_01_2.VOB
1,073,709,056 VTS_01_3.VOB
1,073,709,056 VTS_01_4.VOB
389,033,984 VTS_01_5.VOB
My project in Scenarist looks like this:
12,288 VIDEO_TS.BUP
12,288 VIDEO_TS.IFO
10,663,936 VIDEO_TS.VOB
79,872 VTS_01_0.BUP
79,872 VTS_01_0.IFO
995,328 VTS_01_0.VOB
1,073,666,048 VTS_01_1.VOB
1,073,426,432 VTS_01_2.VOB
1,073,502,208 VTS_01_3.VOB
1,073,498,112 VTS_01_4.VOB
405,340,160 VTS_01_5.VOB
The VOB files are varied in size and slightly smaller, except for the last one and first one. The IFO and BUP files are larger too. Same source material, but different result after muxing.
I no longer have the source original footage in edited form on the hard drive, so recreating the MPEG file at a smaller size would be impractical. Are there any tricks in Scenarist to make it produce smaller files, or is this just the result of the different MUX engine?
