HI there i
i a need a device to capture hi8 tapes to pass it to SVCD or DVD.

i'um using a laptop so this device should have USB/firewire/or pcmcia interface.

I'm thinking on the "Dazzle Digital Video Creator 150 "

any one using this ??
any thing better

I'm using xp pro and i want good quality and easy of use.

hey there, it depends u can get a lot of USB ones a lot cheaper which do just as good


take a look at hauppages USB live ive got it and i then use virtual dub to encode but u could easily use TPMG or CCE etc to make DVD VCD etc

i get capturing at 640X480 from my VCR full 30 FPS it has S-video composite video in and stereo in as well. About $40 i think probably a lot cheaper than that dazzle device

the likely hood is that the dazzle device is better but a hell of lot more money and if you already have a decent pc its better to capture to huffyuv and then do all you converting instead of hardware mpeg2/1 encoding!! by a long way. as hardware encoding destroys the quality .

I have not seen any firewire devices but if you find one pls post the address here as id love one
