I'm sorry if this info has been posted before. I recently purchased a Cendyne A05 burner (YAY Staples!) and initially had so many problems I was ready to return it. I searched and searched this forum but didn't find the answer to my problem but I have solved it since then. I'm posting this in hopes of helping others (maybe this could be part of the Pioneer FAQ?).
Initially I installed the burner and tried to use the same software that I have been using for months with my A03. Every time I tried to burn a disc it would fail during finalization. Here are a few things to try.
1. Pioneer's website stated that VOB Instant DVD/CD 6.5 is the only software they guarantee will work with the drive (don't worry others do as well).
2. Make sure the burning application you are using has the latest and greatest updates (only if you are having a problem). I was using RecordNOw Max 4.1 wouldn't work, then I upgraded to 4.5 and it works like a champ now.
3. For starters burn in test mode (rather than wasting discs)
4. Verify your media is really 2x rated (by Pioneer) Verbatim, Maxell, Pioneer, or Memorex should defiantly work.
5. Try using IFOedit to create and image then burn with DVD Decryptor
6. Under device manager (windows control panel) try switching from DMA to PIO.
7. Try setting the drive as the master.
8. Last resort upgrade the firmware.
If I've left anything out please feel free to add. After searching in here and seeing all of the problems people were having I was ready to return it. Now I'm glad I didn't.
Hope this helps.
